Hello lovely listeners. I am returning to releasing one episode per week for the time being. There is nothing sinister happening! I am just wanting to free up time for other projects outside podcasting. I will be releasing one episode (a mixture of guest and solo ones) on Saturdays in the UK. Thank you very much for your support.

Eating Disorder Recovery and Unmet Childhood Needs, with Victoria Kleinsman and Harriet Frew
Today I’m talking to Victoria Kleinsman – a Brit living her best life in the Netherlands.
Victoria is a food freedom & body love coach, inspirational speaker, podcast host, and writer. She is certified in psychology, spirituality and the science of nutrition and is also inspired greatly in her work, by her own personal experience and walking a tumultuous recovery journey herself.
Victoria has overcome anorexia, binge eating disorder, bulimia and an abusive relationship. She struggled for over 20 years with poor body image and disordered eating.
But today, Victoria eats whatever she wants, when she wants, in any amount that she wants. She makes food choices from a place of nourishment and pleasure. She is healthy, confident and knows her worth. Her self-love is overflowing from within and she has, as she describes, ‘oodles to give others’.
This episode has already been released on Victoria’s Body Love Binge Podcast back in February 2024 – as it was a joint episode that we decided to share on both our podcasts. In this episode, we talk about our own healing journeys and how we have navigated through these. We talk about why people don’t feel good enough and the roots of this in experiences and trauma. We talk about suppressed feelings and how eating disorder behaviours help us cope and keep us trapped. We share the contrast and complexities on the healing road from our different journeys, and how we both are living happier and more fulfilled lives today.
This is a truly inspiring and uplifting conversation to provide hope for what is possible in recovery. I hope that you enjoy it.

When you Don't Feel Good Enough and How to Change This, in Eating Disorder Recovery
‘I’m boring’, ‘I’m not intelligent’, I’m unattractive. I’m too this or that……’; these are words heard frequently in the therapy room. And lying underneath these derogatory statements, is a fundamental belief of ‘I’m not good enough’. This inner feeling of unworthiness then permeates every area of life, through choice of relationships, work progress and social engagements. It’s like having a millstone around your neck, as you carry this heavy psychological baggage into every situation. Fundamentally, it causes lingering pain, which you then seek to avoid through eating or not eating, through alcohol, drugs, shopping or workaholism to name a few. The coping strategies bring temporary relief from the turmoil bubbling inside your head.
In this episode, I talk about my own inner feelings of not feeling good enough, which were a root cause of my bulimia. I share tips on how to change this and boost your self-esteem sustainably. Learning to feel enough can be a life-changer in recovery. I hope that you enjoy this episode.

Healing your Wounded Inner Child in Eating Disorder Recovery, with Amber Romaniuk
Today I’m speaking to Amber Romaniuk who is a returning guest to the Eating Disorder Therapist Podcast. Amber is an Emotional Eating, Digestive and Hormone Expert who helps professional women achieve optimal health through mindful eating, self-care and overcoming self-sabotage with food.
Her podcast “The No Sugarcoating Podcast” has nearly 2 million downloads, over 450 episodes and is listened to, in over 88 countries. She was featured on TV Personality Whitney Port’s podcast and has also appeared on local TV 50 times in the last three years alone.
Amber overcame her own emotional eating, after gaining and losing more than 1000 lbs and spending over $50,000 on binge foods and spending 5 years balancing her hormones and digestion. Now she helps others achieve Body Freedom™ so they have the confidence and health to create amazing lives.
In this episode today, Amber talks about healing your wounded inner child. She shares very personally about her own journey and one of the early events that hugely impacted her relationship with food and body. Amber shares how inner child wounding shows up in relationship with food with eating disorder behaviours and negative body image. She then explores the steps that you can take to to heal your inner child through understanding your story, acknowledging and releasing feelings and then treating yourself with the love and kindness that you deserve.
Amber does a deep dive here and gives a multitude of tips and wisdom on how to find a more balanced place of harmony and healing, drawing on her own lived experience with great vulnerability and through many years of supporting her clients.
I hope that you enjoy the conversation.

The Importance of Relationships, Friendship, Connection and Co-Regulation in Eating Disorder Recovery
If you have an eating disorder, food may have become your number one 'friend' and turn-to. It might feel as if it is the one thing that you can rely on. It feels soothing and something that is yours to control (or at least it feels like this to begin with).
In this episode, I explore the importance of relationships and connection in eating disorder recovery, sharing examples from my own life and offering tips on how to reach out to others, if you are feeling alone right now. I hope that you find it helpful.

Great content BUT
I find the content of the episodes thought provoking and helpful but the audio is frustrating. The volume of the episodes is inconsistent; I often find that when listening to this podcast after/before others, the volume is much much lower. All the other podcasts don’t require adjustment to volume when listening to different shows but this show requires higher volume for the actual content (not usually intro).
Excellent Content
Thank you so much for the fantastic content of this show, Harriet! It has been so helpful for me as a parent of a teen in recovery and for myself as I’ve come to the realization through her journey that my own eating was disordered. Your episodes on psychology that you just released are top-notch!
A wonderful resource
Harriet Frew strikes a great balance among exploring the science behind eating disorders, encouraging listeners to gain insight through reflection, and providing concrete strategies. I’ll be returning again and again to her large bank of podcasts.
