Content is generally really enjoyable and I look forward to a new episode each week. Particularly enjoy the guest Dr Michael Carter’s contributions. I’m truly impressed with the frequency with which the host uses the word interesting and the intonation that says it’s anything but interesting.

Thank you so much for this wonderful podcast I love British culture. It’s very interesting and perfect for practicing English Kisses from Paris

… the host’s rather inane comments and seeming reluctance to always actually listen to what guests say, this is a good, varied and interesting podcast.

The guests are professional historians, archeologists, and other experts with an infectious enthusiasm for their topics. Some episodes focus a little too much on a specific new development at an English Heritage site for my taste, but almost all have at least some wonderful pearls of knowledge...Read full review »

A brilliant podcast! Perhaps in another year connect these festivals with celebrations at English Heritage sites; if applicable. Please take up Michael’s idea of an entire podcast on Twelfth Night.

Love this podcast! I enjoyed listening to it during the Pandemic and have continued to look forward to each week. A varied choice of subject matters and perspectives, as well as an engaged host!

Love this podcast! A great back-catalogue of episodes to choose from so while I’m not interested in everything there are plenty of different topics to choose from. I love Charles’ voice - not so much some of the female contributors whose voices often come across as shrill and grating,...Read full review »

Some interesting topics covered that you won't generally find on other history podcasts. A good and knowledgeable host and some great introductions to places to visit. Slightly let down by getting to bogged down in the detail sometimes. Recommended.Read full review »

This podcast is really excellent. The information is clearly explained and the host Charles Rowe does a wonderful job of clarifying the issues and acting as the listeners advocate. The point of view of English heritage is given prominence but never at the expense of great history and archaeology....Read full review »

The contents of these podcasts are very good. However, on my devices, they appear to be played too fast (iPhone 7 . It’s very irritating

Charles Rowe is a terrific interviewer and his guests are knowledgeable, articulate and really interesting. Great stories, wonderfully told. Good variety of topics within the surprisingly broad area of English heritage. Love it.

These podcasts, whilst being a plug for English Heritage, are interesting although like much media these days are trying too hard to be politically correct. The thing that spoils them is the sound quality. Interviewees and guests always come across loud and clear and are easy to listen too....Read full review »

This review is specific to Episode 122. The description listed two experts yet by listening you’d think there was only one as he overtook the discussion. The host did nothing to stop the man who thought it was a solo show from downplaying the other guests expertise. The host was inadequate in...Read full review »

Ive been an English Heritage member for almost 20 years now and these podcasts are a great way of virtually revisiting some of my favourite sites. Really informative, and entertaining. Thank you.

Deserves more reviews and listeners, well made, great tone, lots of info, from the top people in their field. Totally worth making the time for. No sensationalism, just thinking and explaining about the historic buildings and culture.

I was very disappointed as it is clearly aimed at children. I gave up when the weight of a small hatchback car was quoted as 5 tonnes!
