“My first review was only based on their take on Monster Hearts which does the podcast as a whole injustice.
Unlike a lot of actual play podcasts, this gives you the feel of actually being at the table.
You can choose whether to listen to them creating characters (highly recommended for best experience) or skip past it in most instances. Even if you choose to, the players bring the characters and their personalities to life vividly through their game and each game they play brings about it’s own unique atmosphere.
In some instances, play might be interrupted for clarification of rules and what not but it only adds to the immersion into the game and the table, making you feel like you yourself are playing alongside them.
It’s amazing to me how the characters and games can make me feel like I am actually at a game when it’s been a few years since I’ve had the chance to play.
I feel mortified that my review from when I had only watched their Monster Hearts playthrough (which I am hoping for a season 2 of in the not so distant future) had been read on a podcast.
Having now gotten hooked and listened through pretty much all of their Call of Cthulhu one shots (and will be moving onto the continuous stories afterwards) I can not recommend this podcast enough for anyone that likes tabletop games.”
