Hi, I am reading your book “Learning to Pray,” and just had the thought “look for Fr. Martin on podcasts.” Well, I see there is a new episode today! I’m not sure if this used to be a podcast since I only see one episode but previous reviews. In any case, I’m grateful for this SIGN and excited to...Read full review »

This is the best reflection podcast that I have ever listened to! I love to reflect on it at night, and the music in the background is so peaceful that it puts me to sleep right away! Thank you fr. James Martin SJ for this amazing podcast, and thank you to America media to. Siena H

Fr James Martin is an apostate and heretic. To listen to his voice is to hear the voice of the enemy of God. Pray for him so that he may be turned to truth and his soul may be saved. Listener beware, your eternal soul is at risk by listening. He’ll awaits if James does not repent and become right...Read full review »

This would be a five star review but we notice there hasn’t been a new reflection in three years. The intro and the advertisement at the end have changed—some new reflections would be nice to hear as well.

Thank you for your podcast Father Jim, I’ve enjoyed the first episode and been thinking about how our Heavenly Father has been present with me at the beginning, middle and now end of my day (here in Northern Ireland). Today I’ve been on a bus, a plane, in a motor car, walking with friends and...Read full review »

This is a wonderful podcast. Having been exposed to Jesuit education since seventh grade, this is the first time I have been guided by a Jesuit to do the Examen. I’m now 69 years old ! My good friend, brother in faith and role model, Charles Beirne SJ, may have tried to expose the Examen in the...Read full review »

Fr Martin’s Examen starts my day. I reflect on where God presented in my day. My family, fellow men and women, and nature top my list. I feel God-focused instead of self-focused as a result of using this podcast. I am grateful for Fr Matin and American Catholic Media. God Bless, Dave F.

Brilliant. Thank you Fr James for the kindness & gentleness your voice brings to the guided reflection. This is an amazing step by step meditation to do the Examen. Most appreciated & grateful for this app. God bless

I love this! It has replaced my other meditation apps. This feels like a genuine and simple way to use a modern tool to pray and wind down.

I use this version of the Examen often, both personally and with patients. I now find that as soon as that quiet music starts, it takes me to a place of stillness and calm. Would sometimes like to hear a different intro.

I love Fr. James and really enjoy his thoughts and his guidance through the Ignatian prayer. I agree that the chosen music is irritating at first, but I've listened long enough that it doesn’t bug me anymore.Read full review »

I also find the piano music in the background too loud and distracting. I think either soft sounds of nature or silence would more suit this practice

The guide through the Examin is good. It is challenging and leaves time for pray and reflection. The background music has two issues. Firstly there is something wrong with the recording it sounds at times like a cassette tape being stretched and is very off putting. The other thing is that...Read full review »

I am having a problem with receiving the entire meditation this week. Yesterday, the podcast would not go beyond minute 8. Today it quit right after the daily reflection. I hope that this can be corrected. It’s a wonderful way to end, or occasionally start, my day.

These last few weeks have been dark and difficult. I am most grateful for the hope, even in glimmers, that is provided here.

I am sorry Lent is coming to an end, as these will end.
Ginagina Smith via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/31/18
One of my Lenten disciplines was making a practice of praying the Examen, and this podcast has been a godsend. My wife, a Protestant prays it along with me, and it has been a great consolation. I have recommended it to lots of people. Thanks, Louis Lobenhofer

Great way to start the day. I listen on my drive to work. It allows me to reflect on the previous day and how I might do better on this day.

I pray the Examen everyday, but I’m self taught from reading and an app. With Father Martin’s coaching during the episode I found that it hit me at a deeper level. I found a moment of God’s love that I nearly overlooked in my examen of the day
Flounderusmc via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/19/18
I love the examen with Fr. Martin and hoped to have a daily practice during Lent. However, this really drags. The long instrumental pauses caused my mind to wander and become distracted. It would be great if it wasn’t so long.

What a wonderful gift from Fr. Jim Martin, SJ and America Magazine. Fr. Jim’s guiding voice is gentle and peacefully leads me into prayer. This podcast will work better, for me, than using other apps or trying to focus on this prayer by myself.
