“I found this podcast 1/2 way into a failing journey trying to lose weight with yet another program of calorie counting and food logging. I’m so tired of balancing on a tight rope to lose 5-10 or so pounds, just to gain it all right back. I also suffer from chronic migraine and fasting (other than 16:8 IF) is the only lifestyle change I haven’t tried. I figured what could it hurt?
After listening, I tried a 24hr fast with OMAD. Was surprised how easy it was for me! I’m still early in the podcast (on episode 10), and 1/2 way through Dr. Fung’s ‘The Obesity Code’. I can’t stop consuming the knowledge. — it really resonates with me. I’ve already lost a couple pounds in a week and my belly is less bloated. Looking forward to how much things improve over time.
One nagging question I have but haven’t heard an answer to yet is about calories. I understand from Dr. Fung’s book that counting calories doesn’t work, but if I’m eating only 1 meal a day, am I getting enough nourishment for my body? I tried logging my OMAD on MyFitnessPal (hard habit to break!) and it wouldn’t even register because I was under 1000 calories. Is it safe to eat less than 1000 calories every day? Thank you for your insights.”
