“I'm a serious consumer of political podcasts, and I've never written a review even for podcasts I deeply appreciate and listen to regularly. This review is worth a couple minutes of my time.
I assume that within the pod landscape of 2017 that a few white guys around a microphone are self conscious about their casual banter. Especially if it is the long lead into discussing politics.
And yet, as I'm trying to follow Fifth Column's most recent episode, I'm painfully confused why the conversation gets into a news report from the Sun about a man giving birth (I shared the on air eye roll along with the hosts that we're citing the Sun as a source for anything but toilet paper) and devolves into the claim that men don't have children, that clearly this person was a woman dressed as a man, and well, science.
I'm not gonna be preachy. I'm not gonna insist that y'all shut the podcast down. I honestly don't care enough. I just need to point out that the bro banter wasn't true and in its tone, transphobic. It was so distracting to me that when considering all of the other podcasts out there and my precious minutes on earth it made sense for me to cut my losses. I didn't even get to the content, which is silly.
So, please research some things on google. There are books. It's 2017. Trans men have been pregnant and giving birth for years. Didn't know that? Now you do. It's the persistent presumptive attitudes that get me. And that no person like me on media can ever get away with.
