“These guys have mined the real secret of a great football programme. They have dug down and found the perfect raw material and glossed it with professionality and their personalities. What you get is the slickness of the Sky and BBC guys but with a platform that’s like talking to your mates. I always find the frozen stilted BBC people informative but uncomfortable. Sky Soccer Saturday had old players with the knockabout banter and humour that was genuinely entertaining and informative. Then they dropped that format abs lost something.
Why not have Flav and the boys as presenters on SKY or BBC. Presenting as fans and having that banter and humour and the fan intimacy that would surely receive a bigger audience of football than the formulaic repetition of the main channels and presenters. If Flav and the boys had the Gillette Soccer Saturday spot, I wouldn’t watch the live games in Sky I’d watch Flav and the boys every time.”
