Mandatory listening for modern anarchists
As someone who’s not much of a fan of conversational podcasts, this show is absolutely the exception for me. Joey does a fantastic job of finding interview guests who he can engage in lively, nuanced analysis of global politics from a deeply personal perspective, all the while making complex topics accessible to people who have very little context for them coming into it. The topics skew toward the SWANA region and Lebanon, naturally, as that’s where Joey has roots, and as such adds a really essential, honest perspective to a discussion that is otherwise pretty exploitative or propagandist in other media. My politics have transformed in some fundamental ways through listening to this podcast - Joey and many of his guests are able to put words to the kinds of thoughts and feelings you might have always had but never thought you’d hear someone say aloud, let alone articulate so clearly for you. I like to call it “accessible intellectualism”. Find an episode with a topic that piques your interest and start there. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend!

Extensive, thoughtful discussions on topics of global concern, with a Mid East bent. The guest selection is always impressive and Joey’s Syria-related takes are beyond sharp. Always look forward to seeing new episode in the feed. Please keep it up Joey

Fantastic, nuanced analysis of a wide array of topics, with fascinating guests every time. Worthy of being listened to, especially by many on the Western left.
