“I’m a 39 year old white woman and not since the days of Destiny’s Child have I ventured into Beyoncé’s sphere.
I guess I felt the hype surrounding her was so huge that if I didn’t get her music or what she was saying… maybe I didn’t deserve ears… or breath.
I felt like maybe her music wasn’t meant for me & I’d be crossing some line by enjoying it.
But after hearing Mary Mags’ impassioned monologue espousing her love for Queen Bey, I tentatively played Renaissance on my walk back from school drop off today.
Thanks Mary, I really enjoyed what I heard. I got to Church Girl before the baby kicked off and my attention was needed elsewhere, but I shall listen to the rest after todays GodPod and maybe delve into her back catalogue to see what all the fuss has been about.
