Great Human Chronicle Aanvik Singh

-
A storytelling experiment that looks at the stories behind some of your favorite stories from art and culture. Each episode travels through time to look at stories of people, places, and incidents that connect in unexpected ways to unravel the greater human story.P.S: You don't need to start from episode one (it's probably better if you don't if you want to avoid some growing pains!)

Ep. 21 | Alice Before Wonderland
This week's story is like the Dark Universe because there's just one part (rip.) Aanvik looks at the story of 'Alice in the Wonderland' and its creation. A simple story behind the not so simple genre-defining story.

Ep. 20 | war and piece
This week's story is like a famous 90s musical group because it comes to you in five parts! Aanvik looks at a side of art that you have probably never thought about. We love talking about art that is made because of war. But what happens to all the pre-existing art during a war? How do you protect some of the most important yet brittlest pieces of paper in history?

Ep. 9 (Re-Run) | a story you can count on your fingers
I'm on vacation after a very hectic finals season so this episode is a re-run of an old favourite of mine
This episode's story is told to you in five parts. So that you can count along as we solve a murder mystery and travel around the world (in like less than ten minutes so TAKE THAT Phileas Fogg!)

Ep. 19 | Deus Ex-Maskina
This week's story is like the number of pigs interested in real estate because it comes to you in three parts and looks at the life and paintings of the one of the most important artists of the 20th century; the poster child of the misunderstood artist trope: Amedeo Modigliani.

Ep. 18 | Mary, the Lamb, and the War it Started
This week's story comes to you in five parts and charts the surprisingly complicated story behind the most famous children's rhyme of all time: 'Mary and Her Little Lamb.' This is a story of lies, accusations, warring towns, technological marvels ( occasionally a lamb) and is definitely not for children!

Ep. 17 | when dragons fought elephants
This week's story has as many parts as a failed Divergent movie series. Aanvik tells you about his favourite section from Pliny the Elder's pioneering encyclopedia Naturalis Historia about elephants and dragons. It. Gets. Weird.

Customer Reviews
Absolutely brilliant
I don’t usually listen to podcasts but this podcast by Aanvik was the exception. They are short but very engaging and entertaining. The sound design is absolutely brilliant and the narration is crisp and clear.
