Germinate Your Seeds and Start Your Seedlings

Germinate Your Seeds and Start Your Seedlings

Thanks for joining me for Episode 2 of The Grow Life brought to you by Green Goat Grow Company. I apologize in advance for my sore throat lol. In this episode we dig deep into the details of how to germinate a cannabis seed, best practices, what you'll need, lots of fun industry terms, "what to expect when you're expecting", and how to care for your plant-babies (seedlings). Disclaimer: I am not sponsored by any company, so anything I mention is something I have legitimately used and got use out of.  As stated in the podcast, here are the Amazon.com links to the items I've used.

Less expensive Kit: iPower Heating Germination Starter Kit

Root Riot Organic Moistened Starter Plugs

Excerpt:  In a cannabis plants lifecycle in general, we're breaking it down in to 6 stages: Germination (which lasts anywhere from 2-7 days, and is basically when the seed itself sprouts a taproot), the Seedling stage (which lasts about one month depending on the strain or honestly just how fast your plant grows and reaches the point where it was 4 sets of regular, serrated leaves), and on into the Vegetative Growth stage, followed by everyone's favorite: the Flower / Bloom stage, getting to watch those frosty resin filled buds pack on trichomes - then theHarvest (consisting of cutting down the plants, trimming; either wet or dry, or both and drying them), followed by CURING, the final crucial stage (which is often overlooked) but nonetheless is very real, and helps determine whether or not the bud/medicine you've grown will taste good, maintaining it's terpene profile (cannabis terpenes are a natural component of the plant that gives them their unique smell and flavor based on strain),whether the flower will burn smooth, and be all it could have been, instead of opting notto cure (out of impatience) and ending up with a sub-par smoke you can't really enjoy the benefits of. So, let's say you get your hands on some quality seeds (and we'll talk in another episode where you can get seeds from, quality genetics, and how to store them until you're ready to use them. For now, we're going to assume that you have some healthy regular seeds and you're ready to get started/germinate:

    Introduction to Horticulture

    Introduction to Horticulture

In this first episode of The Grow Life, host Jordan Ryan talks about his background and education in cannabis cultivation as well as the goals he has for the podcast and the subsequent YouTube Channel, Blog, and other social media. Jordan touches upon resources to get educated online (in a nutshell), as well as encourages new listeners to subscribe and take notes if they're serious about learning to grow their own medicine.

What is horticulture exactly? Well, to put it simply it's the art or practice of garden cultivation and management. Plop the word cannabis in front of it, and you get the idea. There are many states that allow medical cannabis users to not only purchase from dispensaries - but also offer them the option to grow their own medicine at home. Disclaimer: we encourage you to check with your state and local laws before deciding to grow. It's not worth it. Educate yourself in the laws of your area and follow legal guidelines.

Since this is just a "getting to know you" kind of episode, Jordan briefly talks about what a cannabis plant needs in order to survive and thrive, some differences between growing indoors and outdoors, and various stages of the cannabis growth cycle; including germination and becoming a seedling. Finally, what you can expect to learn from listening to this podcast and following us elsewhere as well. We are a work in progress, learning the technology curve as we go. Bear with us, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at all you're going to learn, and how much you're going to enjoy learning it.

Fantastic, Educational and Funny.

Great Podcast with lots of excellent information on how to grow cannabis from seed (or clone) all the way to harvest. Jordan is knowledgeable and funny, down-to-earth and clearly passionate about cannabis cultivation.

It’s perfect for a beginner to intermediate grower who wants to learn how to grow from a scientific but but fun approach. Jordan stands by the KISS motto, “keep it simple, stupid!”

Lots of great recommendations and reviews on various gear and equipment, none of which are endorsements - so they’re all 100% legit honest reviews from Jordan himself! Easy to listen to - but it can get a little “nerdy” at times, so maybe grab a notebook and a pen or pencil while you listen. Great news, at least you can go back and listen again in case you missed something or just want to review what’s been said.
