What courage. Both Katherine and Becky
I have been deeply touched by this informative, brilliantly produced and expertly delivered series’s. I had listened to all episodes multiple times and insisted that my children listen to this wonderful series. I am a practicing Catholic with lots of close contact and relatives in the Irish clergy. However, whilst many of the scandals of the Irish church has been dramatised in film format this expose is much more compelling. Listening to the people caught up in this system and makes this series so much more emotive. Becky Milligan has achieved something remarkable in association with those affected. I don’t believe that I will ever forget the haunting accounts of cruelty and dehumanisation of these unfortunate women and children. My family roots are wholly based in the Republic of Ireland and are deeply religious Roman Catholics . I now consider that when my parents decided to move to Northern Ireland in 1969 we had an opportunity to grow without the oppressing weight of some morally corrupt members of the Catholic Church guiding and delivering moral judgments in an ultra conservatism way. Thank you so much for doing this series because whilst the South of Ireland is moving to become a much more inclusive society I doubt the Irish state broadcaster, RTÉ, could have made this series...even now.
