The reviews here might come off cultish in their fervor, but this is no cult-leader. He's sort of an anti-guru for people who think gurus are BS. His big idea is to connect the ontological and epistemological speculation we all engage in back to our inherited Judeo-Christian religious traditions, coloring that with his knowledge of psychology, neuroscience, history, and the wisdom from a handful of brilliant 19th & 20th century thinkers (most prominently Nietzche, Dostoevsky, Solzhenistyn, Jung, Orwell, Piaget, etc.). His work is simply worth pursuing. Plus, he might be the harbinger of brilliant professors creating original content, free of departmental dogma, which is desparately needed to destroy the calcified and parasitic model of modern higher education.Read full review »
