“I’m wiping away tears after giving this a listen. I have a similar story as yours when it comes to school. I did, however, graduate from University as a single mom but it almost completely broke me. Now as a mother of four, I am astonished by how different each of my children are. They are all SO smart in their own unique, beautiful ways. I watched, with heartbreak, as the public school system did to my oldest what it did to me. I tried with all of the tools that I had at the time to help him but it wasn’t enough. He needed something totally different to realize his potential. My next oldest son is now struggling and I want to be brave enough to buck the system. It’s so incredibly hard when you choose to go against the grain of societal norms but I truly believe that I have to allow him to learn on his terms or he will be broken as well. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for offering reassurance to those of us who are taking the leap and freeing ourselves and our children from these constraints.”
