“I was really looking forward to this podcast. But found it infuriating.
In regard to Theo’s intoxication levels, you take the word of a Belgian backpacker - who had by his own account been drinking all afternoon; over the professional opinion of a sober man - who’s profession it is to judge a persons sobriety.
You ask the opinions of of every Byronite as to what they think happened to Theo - who cares what ‘think’ happened to Theo. Their opinions shouldn’t be taken as evidence of anything.
You assume on several points - wallet found on beach, Theo being in the company of another person, why he went to the bushes on the beach, other mobile phones in the area. You assume because you haven’t been told Police have made those enquires - they haven’t been made. News flash - you are not entitled to know. IF Theo’s family have’t been updated about those things - I’d suggest it’s because they keep passing information to media and others. Which will always compromise the integrity of an investigation.
I have followed this case, from Sydney, in the media. Theo was born in the same week as my son and we had travelled as a family to Belgium just prior to his disappearance - so it really struck me. After listening to your podcast I’m convinced that poor boy fell into the water or is in the bush land. I hope the Coronial Inquest answers some questions for his family.
PS - Properly Trained search dogs are extensively trained, bred from the best genetic lines, and their handlers are properly trained and qualified. Costing conservatively $60k from birth to retirement. Their services are not free. And they don’t get to ‘play’ during a working day.”
