Podcast more relaxing than “Mipha’s grace is now ready”
I could listen to this all day. Can’t wait for them to be able to do it in the same room someday. Really gives me a lot of perspectives on games and the industry that I wouldn’t have ever thought of, and just feels like I’m chilling with my friends. I would like to submit a counter theory to comments made about Breath of the Wild in Episode 2. The main character is not Link. One of the beautiful things this game did was finally make a game that WAS about Zelda. Hear me out. You play as link which makes you believe the story is about him.. at first glance. And while some elements are.. link’s personality boils down to "brave" and "HYYAHAH?" and did he sex that fish woman? As the story unfolds you learn so much about Zelda’s life, her fears, her desires to help the kingdom, her failures and grief. The entire hero’s journey arc unfolds for Zelda through your memories... to the point where the triumph of the story isn't link sealing away calamity Ganon, it's Zelda. You learn that even though your actions are crucial... Zelda has been fighting Ganon for 100 years.. which you slowly learn is the climatic fight after years of struggling with her own identity. That's not to discredit link in any way, his actions are equally important like I said, but he doesn't have a personal journey. He can't have too much personality, he's us. We experience the world through him, so by making him have simpler motivations and subtle traits, the player can inhabit him and feel part of the it. But seriously, what a beautiful game and story, and I swear to you the main character IS Zelda. I felt like I witnessed a legend of Zelda for once in the series. All I'm sayin is I feel that game somehow pulled off a third person novel.. where you're not the main character. I don't care about link’s struggle. Go shoot camel leg. And I hate Yanubo. #ZeldaInSpace2021Read full review »
