Murderous White Coworkers with Jenny Yang
Listen now
Description
Margaret talks with comedian Jenny Yang about the Rock Springs Massacre of 1885 that left 28 Chinese people dead. Tensions between white coal miners and Chinese workers reached a boiling point. White workers perceived that the Chinese workers were taking their jobs (willing to work for lower wages) and led a riot and subsequent massacre that touched off a wave of anti-Chinese violence. Also, they discuss the San Francisco man threatening Asian women at a bakery, Asian ghost stories and Chinese dragons. Support Red Canary Song, a grassroots collective of Asian & migrant sex workers.
