“REPARATIONS! my political values and purpose pivoted when I first heard Marianne speak about the debt we owe the descendants of slaves. As a 1st generation Mixed Polynesian, my mom was 10 when Hawaii became a state, I heard the stories of what the colonists did to my ancestors. But it pales in comparison to the 100s of years and multiple generations of oppression suffered by African Americans. Generational wealth was essentially stolen from #ADOS and my hope is that my political activism, thanks in no small part to Marianne’s work and enlightenment, encompasses this injustice.”
