We live in a culture that rewards productivity. We push ourselves to produce results at our jobs, at the gym, with our income, our weight, we read and podcast topics on self-improvement. We use our bodies and our time to the point of exhaustion.
So, where does rest fit into productivity? Resting allows our desires and intentions to manifest, without the effort and control. At rest, we allow our bodies to restore and to heal, our natural breathing and sleep...
Many of us have spent a year or more seeing the potential for deep changes in our lives. From our work and personal lives, to our economy and justice system, the individual and collective possibilities have never been greater. So, how do we create the lives we want, the communities we want, the world we want?
In today's meditation, we manifest our dreams. It is highly recommended that you first write out clear and specific details about your dream — what does...
In today's meditation, we go within - to charge our intuition, our divine guidance, our sense of peace and protection. This is a great meditation for the morning, or anytime you need a pause to refresh yourself.

Many parts of the world are beginning to reopen, after a year of closure, isolation, and quarantine. Many of us have experienced collective and/or individual trauma, for various reasons, and sometimes in layers. We are less familiar with working, playing, or socializing in groups. Returning to what we once thought was 'normal' can be scary, stressful, and overwhelming.
In today's meditation, we enter a refuge, a safe space within, where we can recharge our...
As we process our experiences from the past year, it may be useful to notice the relationship between our bodies and our stress. We know that emotional stress -- including anxiety, grief, anger, and fear -- can create stress in our bodies. But we may forget that the stress in our bodies can amplify our emotional stress as well. This creates a feedback loop, where our nervous system continues to create a stress response even long after a 'threat' is gone. This can create a backlog, where we...
The only constant in the universe is change. This year, around the world, many of us have faced overwhelming changes to our careers, relationships, health, safety, and daily life. As we in the northern hemisphere enter the dark and cold winter months, we may face heightened fatigue, uncertainty, anxiety, depression, stress, and difficulty in decision making.
In today's meditation, we bathe in our Divine inner light. We allow this inner light to heal us, and to...
Not the city, but the nerve. The Vagus nerve is the nervous system's highway. Running the length of the spine, it is connected to all the organs in the body. It holds our body's responses to trauma, and plays a major role in how we deal with stress, anxiety, PTSD, and influences how we respond to perceived threats to our safety or well being.
In today's meditation, we use deep breathing and intentional relaxation to soothe the Vagus nerve. The effect is...
I usually write a script for this intro, and I'm just going to keep it short this time. We are all going through a lot around the world, we are dealing with our personal lives, and our career or job experiences, and also a lot of fear and unknown about the economy, the political situation around the world.
So today's meditation is a Reiki treatment.

Stress tends to build up over time. When we don't process or release our anxiety, our pain, our trauma, it can affect our health - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
In today's meditation, we use the breath to restore ourselves.

For many of us, daily life has changed dramatically. We are experiencing uncertainty, conflict, anxiety, stress, and a complete disruption of our social routines. This impacts our bodies in the form of stress, tension, and conflict within ourselves.
In today's meditation, we destress the body, creating waves of cleansing energy to release the inner conflict that may be impeding our full experience of life.

We are experiencing unprecedented times. How can we use this time to expand our awareness, evolve our compassion and kindness, and discern through our confusion? The world within us is truly a healer, a teacher, an infinite realm that belongs only to us.
In today's meditation, we practice the mindful art of going within, and "staying inside".

My friend Daniel Pohnke died in May. He made a strong impact on my life, during a difficult time. Daniel also helped us get the podcast back on its feet, at a time when we had almost given up on it. Daniel was a world traveler, meditator, songwriter, musician, educator, facilitator, light worker, and coach. His enthusiasm for life was infectious. We release this episode of The Meditation Podcast in honor of Daniel, and in support of his wife and son.
Daniel led me through this...

It is our human nature to seek love. We want to be seen, encouraged, celebrated. But the love that we receive from others is limited by our capacity to love ourselves. When we begin to accept, encourage, and celebrate ourselves, we become better able to give and receive those same feelings.
In today's meditation, we practice the self-generated, healing light of unconditional love.

The Three-part breath is a simple and ancient technique for reducing stress, anxiety, and emotional struggles. Traditionally it is used to regulate life energy, and to clear imbalances in the body mind and spirit. In yoga practices, it is also known as Dirga Pranayama, or Dirga Swasam Pranayama, or rebirthing.
In today's meditation, we practice the three-part full breath.

Often the areas of greatest discomfort in our bodies are the areas that require the most attention. Our discomfort may be telling us to slow down, not to worry. It may hold trauma from old injuries, emotional wounds, or regret. One way to release our discomfort, whether physical or emotional, is to simply breathe into it.
In today's meditation, we breathe into our discomfort. We give it our attention, our focus, and our breath. Finally, we invite ourselves to...
Through meditation, we release tension and focus our minds inward. Through daily practice, we may face opportunities for deeper release, such as chronic tension or old injuries. When we experience fidgeting, difficulty focusing, difficult self-observations, areas of chronic pain or tension, etc., this may be a sign that we are ready for a deeper release.
In today's meditation, we use a simple, self-generated vibration to help realign our subtle energy and to...
When we meet someone who has 'found their purpose', what qualities do we notice? Do they seem to have mastered their craft or occupation? Do they seem joyful and content in their day to day lives? How do we find -- and live in -- our true purpose? Is it finding the right job, the right career? Is it becoming really 'good' at something? Or is it as simple as learning to remain present?
In today's meditation, we attune ourselves to our deepest thoughts, needs,...
We all have the capacity to experience love, through both giving and receiving. But over time past hurts and mistrusts can close our hearts to fully experiencing love. We may carry a fear of being hurt again. In turn, we become selective in how much love we give, and how much love we allow ourselves to receive from others. Restricting our hearts in this way stifles our spiritual growth — and it can even affect the body, including the heart itself.
As we journey through our lives, our bodies experience many forms of stress -- including danger, grief, trauma, anger, and physical injury. When we don't process or release stress it remains inside our bodies, causing tension and restricted breath. Restricted breath in turn deprives the body and blood of oxygen, which can lead to hypertension, weight fluctuation, and all sorts of dis-ease.
In today's meditation, we use our own breathing to cleanse our physical...
