OK, but …
This is getting great reviews, which I find surprising. The recently issued episode 9 mostly covers incidents from 2017, well before the first batch of episodes were completed, which suggests that that investigative period wasn’t too thorough. The drama is often spun out — how many times do we need to be told “we were close” or “getting close”? We are still the the realm of not knowing what happened, and the podcast isn’t getting us that much closer to the answer. I fear there will no answer found. I’m left with the feeling that a much more insightful and impactful podcast might have focused directly on One Coin, where different people could have been the focus on along the way. And much more thorough investigations into, say, the law firm Carter Ruck, could be woven in. (Not quite as bad as the BBC’s ‘Death in Ice Valley’, which similarly felt like a podcast in search of a conclusion which never came.)

This is a fantastic podcast. Reminds me a lot of Fhe Dream. I’m on the edge of my seat every time I listen. The music is a little much, though. Especially when it plays over interviews, it can get tiring.

Not only is this an incredibly powerful and important story, the skill of Jamie and Georgia and the team is in the telling. Much as I want to have everything now over 8 binge tastic episodes, this podcast investigation is itself a part of a live and shifting story.
