The Donner Party series
Today was my first time listening to the podcast, and I chose the three-episode Donner Party series to start with. The material is very well-researched. However, in ep. 1, for some reason the host dragged racism and white supremacy into it and, after holding forth, said, "But that's a discussion for another day" and returned back to the material that was actually related to the topic of the Donner Party incident. Then, in ep. 2, she started talking about racism, white supremacy, and "othering" - again things that are unrelated to the topic, especially when there is no evidence that the people in the Donner Party or the other caravans were racists or white supremacists, or "othered" anyone. Even if they were, it's unrelated to the events that led them to being stranded or resorting to cannibalism to survive. Please stick to the topic and leave the unrelated lectures out of it.Read full review »
