    The Victoria Day long weekend is traditionally viewed as the unofficial start of summer - and for many it is - but for the London Health Sciences Centre it can be the start of something completely different. The May 2-4 long weekend serves as the start of the summer trauma season. Around two thirds of serious trauma cases are seen in the emergency room from May to September. Last year, there were over 550 serious trauma cases at the LHSC, which is around a 20 per cent increase from 2022.
