I’m not quite sure why you’d sided with the Winters troubled children. Your tome certainly was. True, they had a terrible childhood but so did their Holocaust survivors ancestors. They were also incredibly lucky to have a benefactor that, either for legal or moral obligation (irrelevant in my...Read full review »

So far I am hooked by the journalistic excellence. My heart breaks for this couple and the terror they endured.

…for a pointless podcast. There’s zero new information about the case. And I’ll never get back the hours wasted listening to it, ever hopeful that surely no one would make 8 episodes if they hadn’t discovered something new. Well, seems they would - and they do.

This podcast drew me in from the very first episode. The thoroughness of the journalist and the telling and u folding of the story has me anxiously awaiting subsequent seasons.

You lost me at chapter 6.

I thought it was mentioned pretty early on that this podcast would not draw conclusions just present what was found. So an employee of the Sherman’s who works at their home and is privy to all sorts of information gives his opinion that the cause of death may be related to the government trying...Read full review »

I was so excited to listen to this , but it became pretty evident early on where this was going…. It’s seems so obvious what happened here, and the most LOGICAL theory is the one that the podcaster ridiculed as “conspiracy”. I felt it was naïve to think that a nefarious party, like Big Pharma,...Read full review »

I was finding this interesting until the narrator, speaking about Gabby Petito, called her “what’s her name from last year” when discussing online sleuthing. How incredibly disrespectful to her loved ones and memory. At least have the decency to edit a line like that. Complete lack of compassion...Read full review »

Great podcast! Very informative and a lot of new information.

One of these days, these leftists will learn they can produce a show w/o letting us know their politics. Don’t waste your time.

Well worth the listen. Excellent job.

A well-made podcast about an intriguing case I knew very little about!

I enjoyed this perspective. Kerry is such an interesting person. I can’t help but feel that he still comes off sounding super privileged. He got millions from Barry and turned around and sued him. Then he trashes Honey. She did sound like a character but I understand why the family wont speak to...Read full review »

Meh
It's an OK podcast. The sound levels are kind of off, so when the host is talking, it's very quiet, and when anybody else is talking, it's pretty loud. Continuously having to adjust the volume. Also, the whole second episode is the son just droning on and on. You could basically skip...Read full review »

Extremely well done podcast. Once I started listening I couldn’t stop.

Intelligent. Added drama is unnecessary, as the story is allowed to speak for itself; the professionals speak for themselves. I recommend both podcasts of this complex tragedy. The downside is the cousin in the last two episodes. A classic, completely, totally, terribly self-delusional...Read full review »

Thank you I listened to the whole thing. Very compelling, sad and so mysterious in so many levels. Will we ever find out what happened especially if the investigators didn’t do their jobs in an effective and to standards expected for this case. I also love the title.

No new evidence, only speculation, rumour, gossip. Repetitive. Don't know what the agenda was, but there had to be one ... other than "money is cursed." One episode would have been plenty.Read full review »

I’ve been searching for a Podcast about the Sherman murders for quite a while now, and was excited when I stumbled across another podcast on this topic, but was pretty underwhelmed. I got through this podcast but every time the host quoted others’ reporting (hello Kevin Donovan from The Star) or said “We asked so-and-so but they wouldn’t talk to us, which was very frequent, I wondered why I was still listening to the podcast. They did have Kerry Winter, however, who does...Read full review »

Great podcast! Very well written and produced as well as suspenseful. I agree that a bit too much time was spent on Kerry Winter as he is clearly not a suspect or credible at times.

Started well to lay the context with the use of the narrated diary as a device to tell the story. However through latter episodes the potential isn’t realized as reporter’s tone drips with small l liberalism that money and success must be bad or ill gotten. Episodes 7 & 8 are utter wastes of your time, otherwise the series is a nice primer. Love Barry’s diary narration, very interesting. They could skip crackhead cousin Carey tho, he really is the epitome of a bad stereotype.
Jaseki via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 04/17/23
Carey Winter is an inveterate liar and a narcissist who thinks he is owed a living. Apparently cars, houses and travelling the world on someone else’s dime was not enough for him. As well, becoming addicted to hard drugs and making all sorts of poor choices was the fault of everyone but Carey....Read full review »

Disappointing that we’d have to pay for the last episode. Not going to happen.
JansFrance via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 04/06/23
There is some original reporting in this podcast - for example, the interviews with Winter, the ex pharma spy - but otherwise, this is largely a retread of what has come before it and does not offer any kind of different or new flavor than what has already been put out into the market place. A doozy of a case to take on, Kathleen and her team tackle it one step at a time, with lots of shades of colour nicely filling in the background. Highly enjoyable listening.

His reading of the morally vacant Sherman Six Laws at the finale was really good!

The final Episode 8 is available by paid subscription? Disappointing and a cheap ploy by CBC. You’ve lost me a listener.

Clearly Kerry Winter is a very distressed individual. Giving him a platform, without proper follow up support, to vent his anger and sadness is not only troubling to listen to, but it’s also clearly dangerous as the episode finishes with him threatening the Sherman children and the host...Read full review »

I found the podcast both interesting and informative, until Episode 6. Wasting valuable air time on unsubstantiated and for the most part, loopy conspiracy theory, only empowers those who are spewing this nonsense, and serves no purpose in furthering the mystery surrounding these tragic deaths....Read full review »
