THE WAY OUT...WORK - The Lodz Ghetto Story Created and Produced by Jeffery B. Giesener The Jewish Culture and Holocaust & October 7th Remembrance - STAND AGAINST HATE! International Communities presents the documentary film... THE WAY OUT...WORK: The Lodz Ghetto Story. “THE ONLY WAY OUT was the slogan of Chaim Rumkowski, the head of the ghetto’s Council of Jewish Elders, who were entrusted with setting up a model economy in the Lodz Ghetto. The Lodz Ghetto was enclosed by barbed wire on April 30, 1940, imprisoned over 250,000 Jews, with the population later increased by 20,000 Jews from Germany, Bohemia, and Austria and by 18,000 from towns around Lodz. In increasingly overcrowded and filthy conditions, the Jewish workers were forced to manufacture a wide array of items for Germany’s home-front market and for the armed forces, including Concentration Camp uniforms. After the Holocaust, only 877 Jews survived the Ghetto. Two that did survive both the Lodz Ghetto and Auschwitz were the parents of Mark H. Newhouse, our guest presenter, along with his son, a 3rd Generation Survivor, Keith Newhouse. Keith interviews his father as a core component of the film. Keith provides a lively and thorough interview of Mark H. Newhouse, the author of the historical fiction trilogy novel The Devil's Bookkeepers. Mark has based his historical fiction trilogy on the authentic, signed "Chronicle of the Lodz Ghetto" that his parents brought to America from Poland after the Holocaust. Mark used the Chronicle as part of his book research. Was Rumkowski complicit in helping the Nazis deport and exterminate over 20,000 Jewish children, babies, the elderly, and the sickly in selections and deportations to Chemlo and Auschwitz Extermination Camps? That is for you to judge as you watch the film? Like all of the Jews from the Lodz Ghetto, when Rumkowski was no longer helpful to the NAZIS, he was deported to Auschwitz. It is alleged that Rumkowski was murdered by Jewish SonderKomandos in the Auschwitz Crematorium. Keith's terrific, well-researched interview with Mark is the foundation of "THE ONLY WAY OUT film along with actual footage of the Lodz Ghetto and its history. You will also be toured around Lodz today and through the use of photos and historical film clips from 1940-1945 you will be transported back in time.
