Finally reaching it’s true potential with Rory Bushfield
Let’s be clear, Mike is great! He has a natural gift that he used throughout his career connecting him with the best in the industry. He is not shy about it and structures his interviews similarly: doing the research and asking the direct questions. However, the Rory Bushfield interviews were next level. Hearing what Rory got out his career and the inspiration that drives him was amazing. Mountain sports are as popular as ever, and what else people get out of it other than fun, it’s hard to find an answer. Frankly, there wasn’t one here either, but the story of Rory’s life may inspire one. Maybe the credit goes to Rory, but honestly Mike deserves a ton of credit on this one. His empathy and finesse around Sarah’s death gave room for Rory’s story to get out. If you don’t know who Sarah Burke was, she was the one woman that literally the whole industry was in love with. I still remember how the ski camp lift lines got deafeningly quite every time she entered the maze: everyone’s jaws dropped and whispered, “Oh my god, there’s Sarah Burke.” No other athlete, including Tanner Hall, had that presence. Any other podcast host would have totally messed up this interview because that would have been the focus. Mike, Great job! It’ll be hard to top this work, but I hope you do.
