So much enrichment!
Listening to Allen and Sean has really enriched my understanding of Tolkien’s world and made it more accessible to me. I read the Hobbit when I was a kid, and several times since, but struggled to stick with the Fellowship it the Silmarillion, which I started several times without finishing. I discovered the Prancing Pony Podcast as I read through the Fellowship and it really helped me stick with it and learn about some of the larger world in Tolkien’s books. They piqued my interest and now I’m listening to their previous episodes on the Silmarillion as I read through that. I love all the references to other stories from pop culture and classic rock. I’m even starting to love the “word nerdery” conversations as I learn more about Tolkien’s invented languages. If you enjoy the world of Middle Earth give them a listen, you won’t regret it!

Two very knowledgable guys talk in great depth about Tolkiens works, mixing the sometimes dry matter with quite a lot of in-jokes, pop culture references and nerdy digressions. Great!

For decades I've thought the Silmarillion was just Not For Me. Not being a super-fan, I thought it was too dense,...Read full review »
