Opinion on eating disorder and parents
Interesting and thought provoking but as a 43 year old physician recovered from a 20 year battle with anorexia. I disagree that “most patients with eating disorders” suffered from parental abuse or parents with ED issues. Does it happen? Yes. Does research show that it is the majority of cases? I would say no. This is an old theory that can harm those in recovery. He needs to update his education in eating disorders. A lot has been published in the medical literature in the last 3 years.
