This year’s Reith Lectures were full of platitudes and a reiteration of current topics in politics and society without any innovative analysis or suggested solutions. Dr Ansell uses the term “we” with abandon, and it seems to encompass everything from fellow academics to fellow voters to fellow...Read full review »

Thoroughly insightful so far and looking forward to the last instalment. Highlights have been the discussion of social censure as the preventive to true freedom of expression. Low light was Rowan Williams too esoteric exploration on faith: I will try to listen to it again, but simply gave up...Read full review »

Trump will be back in four years and this mythology will be out the window.

Too rarely do we get a long form voyage into any subject area that affects each and everyone of us daily. It just cries out for a whole series of fireside chats between Mark and his interlocutors piers.

I have loved listening to the Reith lectures over the years and they have been fantastic, so I have to say that Mark Carney doesn’t even deserve the one star I gave it. Anyone in a professional position should not have to read a lecture, much less an incoherent one. It’s excruciatingly...Read full review »

This channel is among my favorites for it provokes my mind from a variety of perspectives and sometimes it stimulates my appetite for books and more books. Oh, the physical world is too small to contain the vast reservoir of thought! Thank you, BBC. You are the beacon for those lost souls.

I’ve enjoyed all the Reith lectures I’ve listened to and have never had trouble downloading the podcast. Their appearance is always a highlight of my year. Some are more thought provoking than others: Margaret Mitchell’s lectures, in particular - quite iconoclastic in ways - have given lots of...Read full review »

Fascinating lectures by many of the world's preeminent academics and intellectuals. Includes a fairly impressive Q&A session following each lecture. They usually have 4 podcasts per lecturer, but not always.Read full review »

These lectures are informative, stimulating, and occasionally controversial, initiating colourful debate within my household. It is a shame that so few of the people I have spoken to do not know of their existence. These should form part of our schools curricula in an effort to get the lectures...Read full review »

As an avid fan of spooks. It is very interesting to hear about the reasl secret service. Extremely eloquent, clear, concise and well presented. An amazing and interesting account in all three of the lectures. She is crystal clear in her opinion and presentation. Well worth a listen.

Michael Sandel is a superb communicator. Whether or not you agree with his conclusions about the limits of the market and the best way of debating the common good, this should set you thinking. If only more philosphers could reach out to a wider audience like this. You might also want to listen...Read full review »
