“Been a consistent listener and advocate of this show for the last five or so years, and was working way back into the archives for a while as well—couldn’t get enough. But this current season I’m having to step away... was so excited for the relaunch, Cameron’s return, and a full cast again, but the heart feels missing. Seeing lots of comments on “wokeness” and that probably covers it, but I mostly am sad at the lack of hope for the Church consistently portrayed here (even if unintentional, this is the main theme of most episodes lately) and the overall negativity and ruthlessness towards Christian leaders (who are human beings, though seldom treated as such) and how things almost never land on the ultimate hope of Jesus anymore. I hear brief moments of hope that I hunger for in these conversations, but it comes in between long, long stretches of negativity and condescending tones and harsh judgements and comments that feel patronizing. Miss Annie. Miss Eddie. Miss Chandler. Miss Ask Science Mike moments. Miss balance and kindness and hopefulness. Ps: Jesse is still fantastic despite coming across as somewhat influenced among the current cast... but since he has his own pod now, that is where I will be following him now. Sad to see 2020 claim another. Hope Relevant can adjust course in the future.”
