Hit and miss
Recent controversy aside (the whole YouTube golfers and open qualifying debate) the pod is slightly hit and miss. The whole sponsor appreciation is well over the top, a bit stomach churning as is chasing the clicks and likes. I also found lately there has been a few episodes where they have courted some real blowback (Spaige etc) however they then seem very sensitive to any negative or constructive feedback on the matter which implies they are slightly naive(?) The chemistry between Rick and Guy is really good, and some of the content and interviews are great. I struggle to listen to the pod when there is no specific topic and it becomes a bit like overhearing a conversation as apposed to an informative, entertaining podcast. I find Mark Crossfield’s podcast much more informative and better structured often giving great insight into coaching, stats etc…(perversely I actually cannot watch his YouTube stuff where’s Ricks YouTube videos are an easy watch).

More reviews of The Rick Shiels Golf Show
One criticism though, Lacking consistency.

Rick and Guy are very entertaining while also being informative and if you post on the Rick Shiels Podcast Group on Facebook you’ll possibly have your post discussed on the show, which is extremely satisfying to listen to.
