Painfully stupid.
The Rumor is a podcast about two O's fans who repeatedly state: "We're looking for the answer" to the rumor about Cal Ripken, the Streak, and a night in August of 1997 when a game was called due to a light bank outage. But they're not looking for "the answer". They're looking for "an answer"; specifically, they're looking for an answer that proves the truth of The Rumor. And so, even though they're told by witnesses in the park that night, by lighting techs, by players even -- that the rumor isn't true, these two morons react to this by saying "Gosh, this is all so inconclusive..." No, it really isn't, my dudes. And then by the end of the cast when they FINALLY get a very plausible series of events that explains why the game was called, they even screw that explanation up. Skip this nonsense.Read full review »

I’m not a baseball fan but this podcast is fantastic. Remember the kid you played spy with in grade school? This podcast is what happens when you re-friend that kid, and play detective as grown ups.

This is a very interesting story but I feel like the hosts really botch the investigative angle of their research. They also seem to be way in over their head as investigators and are generally scared of their own shadow.
