Dear Sam, I am a 71 year old American woman. I adore your podcast. I love listening to all the strong, smart, informative, unapologetic women. I laugh, I cheer. I particularly love the older guests who are all so full of life and purpose. Best of luck in 2024. Pam Broadley

This podcast is packed with interesting, intriguing, inspiring women. Even scrolling through the names to find an episode to drop in on makes me go ‘ooh’ because there’s such a rich archive you’re spoilt for choice. There are definitely guests you’ll love, some you won’t love so much. But that’s the beauty of having an open mind and if nothing else it will spark thinking. I find Sam a very soothing interviewer and the chats to be interesting, informative and open, and sometimes vulnerable and empowering....Read full review »

I’ve been listening to Sam Baker’s excellent podcast for years and have found it fascinating, inspiring and even life changing. It’s like pulling up a chair to talk to your dearest wisest friends about this crazy ride through mid-life and hearing just what you need to make the most of it. Thank...Read full review »

I stumbled onto this podcast & haven’t left. It’s a brains trust of women who have lived a life or two. Encouraging, challenging, and good for the soul. Highly recommended!

Wow too much therapy and “all about me”. Says she has empathy but clearly has no understanding of how she comes across. Don’t think she has a career as a life guru!!

Edited to add: Ohmygod Curtis Sittenfeld’s vocal fry almost broke my car radio. Please never have her on again. The guests are great, really interesting and life-affirming podcast for women

I couldn’t put my finger on the type of podcast I was actually looking for until I started listening to The Shift. It’s fantastic & I recommend anyone (especially women approaching 40 and beyond) to listen 👂 💖

Just discovered this podcast, Sam is a great host and really listens, she really gets the best out of her guests, who are fascinating. I’m 46 but this would appeal to all ages. Thanks!

The Kat Farmer ep 🙃🙄 shopping in a charity shop isn’t rocket science - it’s ethical. Lots of ‘dry your eyes princess’ pearl clutching vacuousness

Love this podcast - the guests are brilliant and Sam is the perfect interviewer: she doesn’t make it all about herself and lets her guests shine. For women of a certain age, this is a must-listen.

Bloody loved your chat with wonderful Jane, she’s so stripped back & natural albeit interesting & just so down to earth. The part on her love & life with Ricky so resonated with my life at home, brilliant 👏

I recently got into podcasts. I’ve always been a reader but never really had time for anything else. I found myself with free time during which I can’t read, I don’t like audio books so I started these. I came across your show and I am in love. I saw this podcast and hesitated for a month or so. My menopause is more or less over, so did I want/need to hear ‘harping on’ about it? That was daft! Really enjoy, feel as if I am with ‘kindred spirits’, interesting, thought provoking and makes me laugh. I wish I had been able to access this 12...Read full review »

Miserable episode with Liz Fraser not sure why we had to listen to a woman who has been treated horrendously , put up with it and clearly would happily take back this abusive loser . Not really the midlife inspo I come here for . Her poor kids, for gods sake learn your lesson!

I LOVE these podcasts. Such great conversations with such great women. The interviews feel like informal chats that are both empowering and sensitive. Since discovering this podcast I’ve literally binged the entire back catalogue! But my favorite - Isabel Allende!

Delightful host (love Sam’s wry sense of humour); honest discussions that destigmatize important issues; and a diverse range of interviewees. Feels like I’m hanging out with a bunch of fabulous women.

This is a great podcast. Sam interviews/ has the conversation brilliantly. Unlike other similar podcasts this is all about the issue and the lens of the interviewee, rather than turning it round to be all about her. She brings her experience and opinion lightly and frankly in a helpful way.

My favourite podcast by far! I bang on to anyone and everyone that they need to listen to these. There hasn’t been one I haven’t loved.
