Here’s the thing that most podcasts do but really doesn’t need to- STOP RELEASING THEM EPISODICALLY! Mass distribute and let ME decide if I want to binge or consume in small quantities. I feel like I’m old enough to gage whether I can determine when I’ve had enough. Worth noting, I’m not...Read full review »

Nobody does it better than Wondery.

This is a bizarre tale that would make a terrific movie!

Excellent listen! Reminds me of how Eugene Landy took advantage of Brian Wilson. Part of the reason I am becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner is to protect a vulnerable population from people like these

More interesting than fiction, these episodes were hard to put down. I can’t wait for another update.

please stop using dead casts to advertise its clogging my feed and just makes me stop listening to anything new you put out. As well as anything anyone puts out because I can’t fine the new episodes when my feed is NOTHING BUT ADS

What an addictive and fascinating podcast...I listened to all six episodes in one evening. Would love more of the same. Well done

The podcast is captivating and I listened to all episodes in one day.
Linchikas via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/25/20
I really enjoyed this podcast. Very interesting story!
NaeaRae via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/23/20
I always thought it was halfway worldly but obviously I don’t know half of what’s going on out there. The fact that people do this to one another and allowed to have it done to them is mine boggling to me. That’s the podcast was very interesting and well produced.

I have found the first episode informative and descriptive. Wondery keep it up your all doing great!!
A_girlfox via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/14/20
This is such a nothing burger. He’s not a victim. It seems like he found someone who told him what he wanted to hear then took zero accountability for his actions. I listened to all six episodes and never understood Marty’s outrage. He is a consenting adult. And probably a jerk too.
Marymaryhart via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/09/20
This is just not interesting and too weird.
StillWater1 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/08/20
This is more a story of how stupid Marty is. Quit after first episode. Awful
mdbone00 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/06/20
First episode was good. By second episode I was down the rabbit hole and I’m forcing myself not to listen to the entire thing at once. Fascinating. Sad. Familiar. Infuriating.

Interesting and disturbing. I have binged it multiple times. A good background for drawing. Very intriguing story and good layout. You get everything you would expect. Very good.

What an amazing podcast. I couldn’t stop listening and in a time where the general public is becoming more familiar with the reality of narcissistic personalities, it is extremely timely and (hopefully) helpful for those who are in or connected to someone who has been taken advantage of by...Read full review »

I could not complete the first episode the hosts voice was so dry and the story was so uneventful that I could not bear one second longer to see if the plot would get anymore interesting. A complete failure compared to the other podcasts produced by Wondery!! SAD🧐😱

MUST LISTEN. VERY INTRIGUING.

I’m happy that the people who were taken advantage of by the controlling psychiatrist are now doing well the podcast was brilliant but the story was very sad and highlights how easy an abusive relationship can form

Brilliantly gripping, excellent narrator, one of the best podcasts I’ve heard. Double thumbs up👍👍

Loved the show, great work with the reporting and loved that there are follow ups posted too!

Something that really bothered be throughout this podcast is that they interchange a “psychiatrist” and “therapist”. Those are two very very different things. This made it hard for me to enjoy and I understand what exactly the character represented.
Coco5738493729372 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/11/20
Fascinating detangling of this bizarre exploitative relationship. It’s easy to say ‘Come on, don’t you see what’s happening here?’ from the comfort of my hammock, 30-plus years and thousands of miles removed from the situation. But it must have been a gradual grooming-like development.

Thank you for all the wonderful reporting and to Marty for participating. Great podcast. Highly recommend it.
MLB.100 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 05/10/20
Very interesting podcast about a crooked therapist. It infuriated me that the medical board and psychiatric board ignored complaints about this doctor. Hopefully, this show can be the start of a movement to prevent therapists from taking advantage of patients.

Loved this story - so bizarre, so interesting . I really enjoyed the pacing and all the interviews and re-enactments. Excellent reporting ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m a psychotherapist. This is one of the most egregious and indisputable of any case I have ever heard of exploitation of a client by his Psychiatrist. So very sad that his patient’s vulnerabilities were manipulated by this unscrupulous sociopath. I hope that telling his story allowed him to...Read full review »

The story could have been much more interesting, but the podcast was not structured well. It went into great details that were not interesting. There was not enough compelling testimony to make the audience feel as if the psychiatrist truly did something wrong. Many times it seems as if the...Read full review »

Not your usual crime podcast. Interesting story told well, the narrator is very easy to listen to. I binged this over a couple of days.

Great journalistic storytelling! I can’t believe there are people so manipulative and corrupt as to use their physician healing influence for gain. Such misuse of his doctor power over a patients weakness. Hope Ike gets his just dues! Great job, highly recommend!

Excellent, as usual with wondery
Eolaola via Apple Podcasts · Spain · 04/25/20
An almost incredible story and, quite unusually for Wordery, sounds like a piece of original journalism rather than the regurgitations of books commonly spewn out. This is to be applauded, but it was a bit drawn out and could have occupied fewer episodes. Also, there is no real delving into how...Read full review »

I get that you need to have ads and all, but the constant interruptions are distracting and make it difficult to get into. Kinda ruins it.
Dirkelps via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/24/20
They need to put the ads together and not interrupt the show every minute. Story is good but you get taken out if it.
crimeobsessed via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/22/20
I don’t think I did anything else until this story was over. It’s incredible and to some degree, I think we’ve all had and “Ike” in our lives. It’s so relatable, on so many levels.

Wow. Great podcast. Great story. Well told. Please make more!

I found out about this from a radio program and it was as good as they reviewed. I really hope there is a legal case finally opens up to bring the psychiatrist to justice. You must listen to this.
