Could the US ban abortion?
Listen now
Description
Conservatives are on the brink of a huge win in America's decades-long abortion rights war. Bolder and bolder laws restricting abortion rights have been passed by many states, including Alabama, which last week banned abortion outright, even in cases of rape and incest. Some of those laws, including Alabama's, are designed to be challenged in the hopes they'll rise to the Supreme Court, where a conservative majority could overturn Roe v Wade. So far the tactic has been working out, and national abortion rights in the US are on the line. So how's it going to play out? Featured: Dr Prudence Flowers, US history and abortion law expert, Flinders University Chas Licciardello, host of the ABC’s Planet America
