From innovators like the Lumiere's and Melies to visionaries like Guy-Blache and Gance, some of the most creative minds have honed their craft producing legendary French films. This episode honors their contributions to silent film and film in general.

To celebrate the birthday of silent film legend Charlie Chaplin on April 16, the Golden Silent Films Podcast looks back at the earliest years of "The Little Tramp." His upbringing is a tale of tumult and heartache that eventually leads him from the workhouses of London to the lights of Vaudeville stages, all by the age of 11.



This is the first in a series looking back at the life of Charlie Chaplin. Each episode in the series will break down a segment of his life, ultimately painting a picture of one of the biggest names of the silent era.
