This podcast is exemplary. The hosts discuss what is science versus what is pseudoscience, giving thoughtful, intelligent descriptions of exactly why pseudoscientific drivel is so bad, what is wrong with it, and what a careful and perceptive person can do to think themselves out of black boxes. Want to sharpen your "Baloney Detection" toolkit? This is the place to spend some time. The format includes discussion of topical scientific discoveries, heinous outbreaks of pseudoscience from around the world (sad to say, mostly from the USA), interviews with skeptic authors and media personalities, and even the occasional interview with a "true believer". The latter is especially instructive, because the hosts treat "believers" with tact and courtesy, demonstrating that a faulty argument can be challenged with hood humor and without rancor or invective.Read full review »
