Ocassionally brilliant; mostly meh and always smug
Used to listen to every show, but dropped out when they went political a couple years ago. Checked in again with a couple recent expisodes. Some tremendous stuff mixed with a lot of social justice, cheap-shot attacks, dumb segments and a lot of sanctimony. Lots of criticism of easy targets like anti-vaxxers. That's just lazy. I have no idea what Evan is doing there. Barely knows his topics, most of his additions are just agreeing with others. He must be a brother in law. Cara is extremely talented (or just works very hard) dealing with complex topics, but her smugness and social justice spin on just about everything are extremely annoying. She should be too smart to let herself become just another NPR host. The boys are fine and Steve is a gem The noisy and some word thing they do is just dumb. Done for 2021 with this. It was such a terrific science show a few years ago, I'll check in again in 2022. End of 2022: well, I think they’ve been captured by what’s left of their audience. I’ve seen this with other programs. They start out like objective scientists, then there’s leakage into politics, then they lose that part of the audience that doesn’t want the politics, so they have to double down on their political biases to keep who’s left (pun intended). Lots of cutesy banter (which I can live with) but their leftist politics is everywhere esp with a very smug and sanctimonious Cara.Read full review »

I've listened to most of them; there are many good ones out there, but this one is the best. Wide and excellent coverage of subject matter; intelligence, vast knowledge, and wit on the part of the moderator and panelists; what more can one ask for?Read full review »

I was hooked after just the first few minutes the first time I listened. I can't think of a better tagline than "Your escape to reality." Pseudoscience can be enticing, but this podcast puts it in its place . . . the trash. But unlike Penn & Teller's show, which humiliates...Read full review »

If you have even a passing interest in sifting the BS from the factual this is definately for you, and all the better for the recent addition of Rebecca from SkepChick.org - a female perspective is welcome in this field. I can't get enough of it, highly recommended.Read full review »
