This podcast was so enlightening. Miss Sandra is a warrior and her story is so very important. You never know what happens behind closed doors and this was a reminder to be kind to everyone. Thank you for sharing.

An engaging and honest depiction of a young woman’s journey through psychological abuse by her church, the damage inflicted by her violent abusive husband and her ultimate personal triumph in finding her true identity.

On episode 3. What a great son you are. You’re also very humble because you never give your name. It was quite beautiful to hear your mother’s story. Thank you for giving her a platform to tell this story. I can’t thank you both enough, I’m completely engrossed and affected.

A mother and son with quite a story to tell. What she went through because of her husband and the Mormon church was terrible and she seems so forgiving.

Sandra is such an inspiring woman and so strong to tell her story. It’s such a good podcast, well produced and written. It shines a light on Mormonism, abuse, conversion therapy and lots of other things I had no clue about. Fantastic.

This was such a touching story told in such a thoughtful way. She was engaging and dignified in a way that seems rare. I will miss her sweet voice once it is over!

Loved this podcast. My heart breaks for people who are taught that they are flawed by being gay. And then the religious trauma aspect. I am so glad Sandra has a great relationship with her children now.

Both heart-breaking and inspirational at the same time. A life experience that everyone should hear no matter your sexuality. Only complaint is the bizarre and distracting music. Hardly compliments the story and is sometimes loud and jarring and other times dark and eerie.

Inspirational.

A well-produced, well-edited series. This is narrated in the first person by the subject of the story, and it has everything you could want in a dramatic tale. If you’re LBGT, atheist, ex-Mormon, questioning faith, an abuse survivor, or just interested in compelling stories about people, this...Read full review »

Sandra Marie’s story is very compelling and really puts into perspective both how far we’ve come and how far we have to go regarding LGBTQ+ rights.

Sandra and her story are wonderful! However, the music is atrocious and totally takes away from and ruins the podcast! Music selections are poor and inappropriate for this sensitive story and is LOUDER than the actual narrative. Podcast would have been better without music all together.

My wife and I were so mesmerized with the heart wrenching story of Sandra Marie we binged all episodes back to back and were disappointed there weren’t more! How brave a woman to speak so openly about her difficult life and marriage to her equally brave son who sought to document it in such a...Read full review »

Not much to say other than this is one hell of a good show. It draws you in immediately and most important, they throw that hook in to get you to tune in again next week. Really well done. Everyone involved on the show should be proud of their work.

Coming of age, sexual identity, small towns, religion, abusive relationships... this podcast has it all. Having grown up in Idaho, my heart feels such a connection to this real life story. Thank you for sharing your life experiences with the world, Sandra. You are one amazing woman.

I am so invested in this story after the first episode. I love the lens of her experience. Definitely listen to this - but warning - you will be completely hooked.

Loved the podcast, enjoyed hearing the story being so well told and recalled. As far as the production, the terribly cheesy music and poor mixing really took away from the quality of the content.

Sandra Marie is a hero. This is a wonderful story and I’m so sorry for all the heartbreak.

Audio quality and voice are easy to listen to and soothing. The music helps set the scene where you truly paint a picture in your mind. You can (and will) get lost in the depth of Sandra's recollections. Must subscribe!Read full review »

So wonderfully moving. I am so amazed at the bravery of this lovely woman and her son. A living example of triumph despite tragedy. I wish them both a lifetime of joy and peace...they deserve it.

I would love to give this 5 stars....but please turn down the background music. We can’t hear voices...so I just turn it down till it’s over. Not a pleasant way to listen, but content is great and would be 5 stars all the way!

Really enjoyed this podcast. It was heartbreaking but I could tell by Sandra’s voice- her strength and kindness, that she was going to be ok. As someone living in Utah County who has a Mormon mother and a gay brother, this was such an interesting listen! Along with the coughing sound for skunk smell, rapid snapping for the rubber bands! Argh so frustrating her words were enough, so much unnecessary and annoying background I’ve unsubscribed after 2 episodes.

this is such an interesting story. The only negative I have is that the music is very distracting and way too loud - sometimes louder than the narration. Would be much better without the music.

I started this episode less than 12 hours ago and I have been listening to it every moment I had, even at work. What an amazing story of courage, Motherhood, abuse, and self love. I cried, laughed, and cried some more. You are an inspiration to us all!!
