This is a horrendously sad story, however this podcast was very well put together with great storytelling and great sensitivity shown to the people who were left to pick up the pieces after the horrific murder of Melanie. To be able to bring people together, who suffered such grief and sadness...Read full review »

Isla did a really good job of putting all the information out about the gentle young lady Melanie. May she live on through this record and her family and those of Kris get some badly needed peace and the ability to live with lighter hearts.

It is extremely rare if ever, that you get to hear the survivors story. Well told and researched by Isla and very brave of Melanie’s mother to speak out along with Kris, his mother and Clare. Well done to all of you, the truth is out there now.

This podcast is very good. It tells the terrible story of a real and gruesome murder and though it takes a forensic and analytical approach to the murder and the trial, it is also very human and this is due to the key people involved and Isla Traquair herself, whose emotional involvement in this...Read full review »

This is a serial style podcast set in Scotland told by a Scottish journalist. Not only do you get to hear about a murder you probably don’t know about, but you get to learn some Scottish as well! 💖💗💖

I didn’t come across this podcast to the start of 2020 and blitzed through the episodes. Such a tragedy for those off involved and for what - nothing. The Act of murder In this case was indeed most foul and carried out by someone who can only be described as evil. What a strong woman Susan is...Read full review »

Such a personal recollection of a terrifying end to someone’s daughter. For all who have lost someone in such a horrific manner you never forget and you can only hope the event is told with the same truth and dignity offered in this podcast.

A heartbreaking story delivered extremely well and sensitively. I hope this becomes a series. For people complaining that the perpetrator was vilified, she violently killed a woman for no reason in cold blood. Melanies family have a life sentence. Bonus episodes- called bonus episodes because...Read full review »

I have listened with great interest to the Murder Most Foul podcast and enjoyed it immensely. It really brings the whole case to life through the eyes and memories of the protagonists. There are no winners only loosers in this type of case and Susan is and will continue to pay the highest price...Read full review »

To Susan, to Chris and everyone who cared about sharing their stories, you are so brave. I have cried, shouted and felt utter disgust throughout this podcast. Amazing detail has meant the listener feels part of it. Melanie will always be remembered as lovely young woman and I’m glad her story is...Read full review »

I have listened to this podcast whilst on holiday. Absolutely fantastic to listen to this story and amazed at how Susan has managed to cope as well as she has.

Completely captivating from start to finish. It was nice to hear some real world interviews too. I won’t say anymore as I’ll spoil it for anyone who hasn’t listened yet. Work journeys from now on are going to be boring...

I’ve never written a review before, but you need to listen to this. An incredibly sad story told with heart and I’ve truly been blown away by the strength of those involved. This is podcasting at its very best, giving a voice to those who would otherwise be left to suffer in silence. Thank you...Read full review »

So glad I found this. Heart breaking. The dignity of Susan is outstanding. And Isla’s production is superb. I hope she’ll do another one. So insightful and brilliantly presented. Such a horrible story.

How sad. Not like the recent reviews which could possibly be written by the murderer herself? Fair and well made.

I was enjoying this podcast at the beginning but found the last 3 episodes difficult to listen to. Giving Pamela’s friend, ex boyfriend and his mum air time no real substance to them. I actually started to feel sorry for Pamela in the end with the hounding of her at her place of work and at home....Read full review »

Thank you for making this professional & informative podcast. Very sensitive to poor Melanies family. The way you tell her story is truthful and non sensationalised. The interviews with the professionals are so informative and heartfelt at the same time. Very well done Isla.

I’m truly shocked by this podcast.. although it starts as a seemingly sensitively curated and edited podcast investigating and interviewing people who have been touched by this terrible crime. It seems to degenerate quickly into a simple denigration of the character of the perpetrator of the...Read full review »

You don’t need a recap every episode, it’s condescending to the listener and just filling. Bonus information every other episode?? If it’s worth listening to put it in the actual episodes. And far too many adverts.

First iTunes review I’ve ever written but I had to for this one. What a story. An unfortunately true one at that. I binged the entire thing in just over 24 hours. Thanks to all the members of these devastated families for their bravery in allowing this podcast to “entertain” us. I am left with such a feeling of respect for Melanie’s life and legacy. Isla does a wonderful job of allowing us into the lives of the survivors.

I found this to be a fascinating and unusual story well told; with a personal element. The bonus episodes were also interesting, but with a slightly different theme/tone, often bonus episodes are extraneous: not in this case! Looking forward to more from the same podcaster.

First off what a lovely, gentle soul was taken from the world but it’s so clear that she lives on, not just in the hearts of those she directly touched through knowing her, but the rest of us too. A very human story of a real murder in Aberdeen in 1999. Melanie’s mum is an incredible woman who has been through the worst thing imaginable and yet manages to speak honestly and openly to the brilliant presenter Isla Traquair. Fascinating to hear everyone speak candidly about the case, and has left me feeling so much respect for everyone involved.

Isla is interesting and engaging and clearly feels this story due to her coverage of the original case. It’s a sad story but dragged out and doesn’t actually offer what it suggests...an interview with the culprit. Nice wee accents though.
GNU Baxter via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/14/19
I really struggled with this. While the information is compelling the storytelling is so slow! Half of each episode is going over stuff that’s been covered and only a couple of new facts added each pod.
Pauliejarvo via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/14/19
Absolutely stunning and brilliant. Isla takes a terrible story and find beauty and healing in it. The accents are at times thick, but trust me friends, when I say the payoff is emotional and wonderful! Bravo. Would give it 10 stars if I could. Susan and Kris - chins up! ❤️I am proud of you both.

I listen to a lot of crime podcasts throughout my working week. A lot of them blur into one another but this is so much more relatable and emotive due to, for me, as it’s about two ‘normal’ girls, it being based in Scotland and also, Islas story telling. Excellent podcast. More of this please....Read full review »
