“After season 3 of Stranger Things aired, I found this podcast in a news article and immediately looked it up on Spotify. I can tend to have a one track mind, and this gave me someone to listen to talking about the show so I don’t have to bother my friends by spouting stuff about Stranger Things all day haha.
It’s a fun show. The hosts Darrell and Addi are father and daughter, and Darrell grew up in the 80’s like the characters, whereas Addi is the age of the child actors. Darrell watches the show an episode a week and gives his predictions, and Addi has already binged the season before they start production. There are no spoilers for next episodes, so you’re following along with Darrell and getting to hear someone react to the episode for the first time which is cool. I’ve always been someone who likes to show someone something I like watching and see their first reaction; it’s almost like vicariously getting to experience it the first time through that person. So this show scratches that itch for me. Also, as someone who has seen the episodes like Addi, it’s funny to hear her reactions to his predictions because you’re on the same page as her if you have binged it.
They are incredibly nice and down to earth people as well. They ask guests to write in and make their predictions. There are some regulars who write in every week, and some people bring some really interesting info to the table, such as parallels between the episodes and comic books that are referenced/make cameos in the show. Darrell and Addi also invited their listeners to join them for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios, and I had the privilege of hanging out with this awesome duo at my favorite event. They were so kind and chill, really exceeded all expectations.
