Don’t know the backstory, but listening to your show nearly daily had become something I looked forward to. Our station has replaced your time slot with Freshair. It is lovely and inspiring, but airs 2x each day, so I would rather have the opportunity to listen to both. Hope you are all faring...Read full review »

I’m so sad it’s over, I recently started following this show on podcasts because I wanted to finish episodes I started hearing in the car. I really enjoyed that The Takeaway talked about interesting topics that were a little off the beaten path. They shared different perspectives and I really...Read full review »

I can’t believe this podcast is ending. I’ve learned so much from this very informative program. Wishing the best to all the staff and employees.

I discovered this podcast during the pandemic and have really appreciated the points of view and information. No idea what I will replace it with! Thank you MHP and team for your excellent work. You’ve helped me learn and grow.

I’m crushed to learn this podcast is ending … I feel like I only just found you! These episodes encapsulate big ideas quickly, without much loss to either detail or nuance. Additionally, to a U.S. listener, each topic covered is one at the heart of our democracy. Although topical, each episode...Read full review »

I am thrilled beyond measure that Ms. Perry is on the air! The Takeaway is smart and informative, having conversations that we all need to hear and learn from.

Melissa Harris-Perry’s The Takeaway is inspiring and grounded at the same time. My local station, KQED, dropped it from the line-up and put a big hole, not just into the day, but into my daily reminders of how we are really faring. No other show covers how women, particularly women of color, in...Read full review »

I have long been a fan of public intellectual Melissa Harris-Perry. I watched her MSNBC show weekly when it ran in the early to mid 2010s and was thrilled when she was named host of The Takeaway. She doesn’t disappoint. Her interviews are warm, thoughtful, bold, and unapologetic in naming racial...Read full review »

I try to listen to Mellisa Perry as often as I can , her shows a interesting and informative. I love she speaks to me and my concerns as a woman in America.

Utilizes too much “newspeak” and doesn’t give enough time to the important stories it gives an entire 8 minutes to, after intro and ads. When the topic is of personal interest to the host, much more passion and enthusiasm is given to those stories. This is, of course, at the expense of equally...Read full review »

I first saw Ms. Perry at The New School in New York where she was a member of a panel with Chris Hayes, Eric Foner, and Katrina Vanden Heuvel. She keeps issues of dire importance to the vast underclass front and center, but she does it with panache, intelligence, and a great reserve of patience...Read full review »

An outstanding commentator and interviewer. So good to hear Melissa Harris Perry’s brilliant voice on NPR. Keep the diversity trend going.

Melissa Harris-Perry has brought a huge breath of fresh air to NPR as well as to The Takeaway. Her gifts include the fact that she relies on her academic discipline to always be thoroughly prepared for her interviews. And then, in the most empathetic way I have ever heard on either radio or TV,...Read full review »

I love the way Dr. Harris-Perry conducts interviews! The topics she covers are important and interesting.

The topics are quite interesting. BUT, Melissa’s voice turns my stomach! She has such a phony tone of voice ! Pathetic and conveys a superficial perspective! One star for topics; one for the presenter. I used to like The Takeway. Now I ditch it.

I am a huge fan of the Take Away but, your conversation with Holly Robinson Peet about autism spoke directly to me. As a mom with an autistic daughter I was very happy to listen to this episode. I appreciated her transparency and yours. Thank you very much for letting me know I am not alone.

This episode is an inspiring tribute to the life, work and legacy of bell hooks. The segment with the founding members of the Crunk Feminist Collective explores important themes of what it means to meet young people where they are. Melissa Harris-Perry is doing great work with the Takeaway.

A string of woke platitudes - utterly predictable and often offensive to someone seeking fact based discussions carried out by critical thinkers who want to get to truth.

Podcast Listeners come to the podcast space longing for two things: 1. Content and stories that the mainstream media ignores or worse purposely rejects. AND 2. Nuanced long form discussions that are, for the most part, uncut and unedited. The Takeaway accomplishes #1 but fails at #2. In...Read full review »

I started listening a couple years ago and at first really liked this perspective of their coverage. I am always trying to listen to the side’s political views and shows like this can help further engagement But when you completely mischaracterise guests like the Pelosi-bot who was described as “non partisan” and “independent” on Social Security issues, you made me angry. Prefer in-depth analysis with guests. This one follows the usual trend, keeping it mostly superficial, entertaining, and with music and sound bites for variety. Meh
It’s okay. There’s some moderately deep dives on extremely specific topics, but in doing that, I think the pod falls short of the full picture. Loses context in dealing with the details. Also, like most NPR casts, leans center-left and is careful not to endorse dem-socialist views.
