    Tarot & Social Psychology

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I’m getting nerdy and exploring the topic of Tarot and Social Psychology. I spend time dissecting the concepts of power, authority, conformity, and prejudice through the lens of tarot archetypes and then I dive into the world of attitudes and actions.

I guide listeners through an enlightening exercise I first introduced to members of The Tarot Diagnosis community - The Symposium during a monthly workshop series. Tune in to participate in a social psychology and tarot exercise to help you better understand yourself and deepen your relationship to the cards.

    Tarot for Your Existential Crisis

    Tarot for Your Existential Crisis

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I’m getting existential. There’s been an uptick in discussion in my therapy practice around the concept of death, the meaning of life, and existential dread. So, naturally I’m turning to tarot to help me examine, ponder, and even come to terms with my own existential dread.

The Five of Cups, Queen of Swords, Hanged Man, Two of Wands, and Nine of Cups all make an appearance and help to write the narrative of an existential crisis. I’m inspired by Freud’s essay “On Transience” as well as the work of Dr. Irvin Yalom this episode.

    Individuation with The World

    Individuation with The World

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I’m back after a short hiatus with the anchor of The World. I reflect personally on what this card represents for me as I feel like I’m very much in the middle of a World moment - a lot of culmination, completion, and new beginnings swirling around me. All of which is why I have been rather quiet on social media and the podcast the last few months. I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out after noticing I had been a bit quiet. Rest assured, I’ll be back to regular, weekly episodes soon!

For now, enjoy this brand new episode where I explore The World card through the lens of Carl Jung’s concept of individuation and through Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems (aka Parts Work - because you all know I love some parts work!).

I also walk you through a specific exercise rooted in IFS theory to help you better understand your true core self! So, grab your favorite deck and follow along with me.

    Judgement: A True Awakening

    Judgement: A True Awakening

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I am joined by author and artist Monica Bodirsky. Together we traverse the world of Judgement and explore how powerful language can be when it comes to tarot and the importance of using our *discretion* when it comes to not only how we interpret the cards, but also the words, meanings, and associations we assign to them.

Monica Bodirsky is an artist, author, and professional consultant whose specialty is tarot. Her innovative approach empowers individuals by creating work that builds bridges to unseen realms where connections to self, ancestral wisdom, and the environment are cultivated.

She is the author and artist of seven tarot, oracle and Lenormand decks and guidebooks including the bestselling Shadowland Tarot (Red Feather Mind, Body and Spirit) and the recently released Awakening Tarot: An Elemental Approach.

As the founder of WITCHfest North Arts and Culture Festival, she is an advocate of community and capacity building and a sought-after speaker at several annual international, metaphysical and divination conferences.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Design, she taught at OCAD University for ten years and currently holds multidisciplinary art and spirituality residencies in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Shadow Work with Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung

Shadow Work with Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I invite you to step into the transformative practice of Shadow Work, guided by the symbolism of The Sun card. Unpacking the teachings of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, I explore how the shadow encompasses suppressed fears, desires, and insecurities within us. Contrary to common misconceptions, the shadow isn't inherently dark; it also encompasses lighter aspects we've pushed aside. Shadow Work involves bravely bringing these hidden aspects into the light for personal growth and healing.

I highlight the importance of ongoing self-reflection and dispel the notion that Shadow Work is a quick fix. Drawing parallels with Freud's id, ego, and superego, I offer insights into understanding these concepts for a deeper exploration of the shadow self.

Tune in as I introduce a tarot spread inspired by Freud's theories, designed to aid in navigating the complexities of shadow work. I invite you to join me on this journey of self-discovery, as I pull cards to a meaty shadow work spread and work to uncover the transformative power of integrating our shadows to embrace authenticity and promote liberation.

The Moon: The intersection of Astrology & Tarot

The Moon: The intersection of Astrology & Tarot

This week’s episode is a break from tarot heavy content and instead taking a step into the world of astrology – specifically the role of the moon and our moon sign.

I’m joined by astrologer and psychic medium Alexander Kriech who shares his wisdom and experience with us and guides us through the importance of the moon and what it means for each of us.

Alex sheds light on how the moon can represent more than repression, shadows, and deep emotions – but also our relationship with our mother. So, this episode is timely on the heels of the “Healing the Mother Wound” episode.

Alexander Kriech an Astrologer and Psychic Medium located in Denver, Colorado. He has been working professionally in the spirituality field since 2015.

He is passionate about helping you get clarity, insight, and healing with his no-B.S. approach and practical, grounded energy.

When he's not staring at the night sky or recording a podcast, I can usually be found playing Dungeons and Dragons, hiking and enjoying nature, at a Drag show, or taking a nap with his cats.

You can out more about my work at his website www.dogstaroracle.com, or connect with him on TikTok and Instagram at @DogStarOracle.

You can also listen to his podcast "To The Stars! An Astrology and Intuition Podcast" on Spotify, Apple, or anywhere else you get your podcasts.

Love podcast but one request!

I think the insights and knowledge she shares is phenomenal, as someone semi new to tarot who’s still in their first year of exploration in of the craft I adore this podcast.

If I could add one critique or note I wish she would put links to the different decks her & her guests use or discuss (if those decks are still available) because I’d love to expand my deck collection, especially with non traditional smith Waite decks. 🩵

Mental Health and Healing

So much insight and vulnerability packed into one podcast. What I love about it is that I think I know tarot pretty well and I wish I had pursued a psychology degree, but Shannon either finds new ground or expands my awareness. Like today, she opened up the Justice card that I too struggle with. And then she reiterated what cognitive dissonance means and it hit me like a lightning bolt that the tension of my current situation is grinding me down, not my inability to flourish or even cope.

Speaking of not just coping but flourishing, that is exactly what this podcast has done since Shannon became the sole host. It has always been such a rich, thoughtful, fun podcast and I admire how Shannon didn’t lose that thread. She just wove it into a new iteration that has been inspiring to see. It was a make or break moment and she made it.

I have gotten so much healing from this podcast and it’s criminal that I haven’t written a review before today. Hope I’m not running into a word limit ;D
