Don’t get too cozy with politicians
As Matt morphs over to Times Radio, he needs to remember the need for challenge. The interview with Marvin Rees showed the Bristol mayor to be a decent person, but he made a few points that needed challenge. It was far too much like a slot for Mr Rees to say whatever he liked. If there’s no opposing voice alongside, the interviewer has to step in (without coming over all Maitlis or Marr).
