“Other Minds and Hands” should be so boring. Can’t quite figure out why it isn’t.

Often an uncontrolled firehose of poorly connected concepts and ideas via a delivery that is not engaging or entertaining. Perhaps the professor should study Tolkien as a story teller?

This is a must for anyone who is interested in Tolkien’s world

The discussion of The Rings of Power is so pretentious and obnoxious. “Didn’t like the show? Well, you must be too dumb or impatient! You obviously don’t know the lore. You need to put in the work!” I at first found entertainment from the mental gymnastics the hosts do to convince themselves that...Read full review »

I was browsing podcasts, hoping to find something that could investigate Tolkien a little, and have really enjoyed listening to this. The WC Tolkien course series is particularly enjoyable. Would recommend!

Corey Olsen is one of a select few on the planet who can understand just how poorly written the Rings of Power really is.

A podcast that does little other than pander to the show runners with almost no lore. The 2 hosts stumble and stammer through empty topics, which can be summarized as “Amazon show so amazing, and women strong”

What a refreshing concept! Instead of opinions and unsubstantiated drivel, this is a truly intellectual and analytical discussion about works from a creative standpoint that allows for thought, understanding, wondering, and possibles without being pretentious or patronizing.

How does a podcast that has existed for over ten years less than 150 reviews? I used to have a lot of respect fo Corey Olson but the more I see of what he’s said and the past year or so, I’ve lest it all.

For years I’ve been listening. It’s very much a work of love. Excellent!

Amazing podcast for all Tolkien geeks!

Very disappointing. The appellation of ‘The Tolkien Professor’ comes with expectations of scholarship and insight. Instead, it’s just solipsistic (and, frankly, deluded) burblings about making a movie of The Silmarillion. It's very Middle American in outlook rather than Middle Earth....Read full review »

I have been following Corey since late 2010; when it was just the Tolkien professor podcast. Now, I am still listening to most of the podcasts that signum and Mythgard Academy are producing, and attending mythmoot live as often as I can. Very well informed and in depth reading of Tolkien works...Read full review »

Wondering when the podcast feed will be updated. I love the podcast, but this month the podcast feed was updated without updating the flagship podcast which has been updated 4 or five more times on YouTube. P frustrating.

Been a listener for several years and I love Dr. Olsen. However I am struggling to stay interested in exploring lord of the rings. The lessons are wading so deep into the minutia of language and hyper-analyzing Tolkien’s every intention and thought, that the story itself is just getting lost. As...Read full review »

This podcast gives a rich, thoughtful and detailed insight into Tolkien’s literature. Pro Corey Olsen does a great job unpacking the stories.

Professor Olsen is both interesting and knowledgeable. I love to catch him streaming live but when I can’t his podcast is a great way to catch up.

Wanted to learn more about the LOTR universe and found this podcast. Corey’s humor and ability to explain concepts well have made powering through 90+, 2+ hours long episodes in a short amount of time enjoyable. Keep it coming!

The milking of the subject matter has reached beyond ridiculous levels at this point. 2 plus years to cover book 1 of Fellowship Of The Ring. At this rate, expect LOTR exploration to culminate no sooner than 2030. The LOTRO babble at the end of each episode is both pointless and annoying....Read full review »
