Tolkien is a dish best served religionless.
I enjoy the podcast, it’s pretty informative and easy to listen to, until.... the hosts start to shoehorn their Christian religious beliefs into Tolkien’s works, and start telling people to pray communicatively that the good people at Amazon don’t make a mess of the upcoming LoTR show by adding violence and sexuality. It’s also rather painful to listen to them compare the fictional works of Tolkien with the fictional works of Christianity. If I wanted to hear a sermon, I’d go to church. Regardless when they do manage to steer away from that garbage and into what the show is about it is quite entertaining.

I appreciate this podcast very much. Very thoughtful commentary on the works of Tolkien, and a pleasure to listen to. Just like Tolkien’s works: not only a pleasant diversion from the doldrums of the 4th age, but thoughts and ideas that will encourage and enrich our lives. I highly recommend it!

This is a great mixture of insight into Tolkien and entertaining exchanges between John and Greta. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to learn about Tolkien in a more fun (i.e. less academic) environment!

I listen to this podcast a lot while winding down and going to sleep. It’s clear they are having so much fun with these books and their banter is really nice.
