Unreal level of mansplaining
I’ve listened to the first 9 episodes of this podcast, trying to give it a fair shot, and I just can’t anymore. It’s clear the male host loves all things Tolkien and the female host (his wife?) doesn’t care at all. He frequently sets her up for failure by asking questions she doesn’t know the answer to and he is more than happy to let her flounder and struggle to find the words. He often takes delight in pointing out how wrong she is. There was a really good opportunity here for a podcast where someone with more knowledge could educate people but instead he prefers to mansplain Tolkien to his wife. It’s a pretty messed up dynamic. The male host is always saying “so” and it’s extremely distracting. The hosts are always coughing into the microphone. It’s just too much. Overall, I like the idea of breaking down Tolkien on this level, which is why I started listening, but I’m going to be looking for another podcast because I can’t stand listening to this guy embarrass his wife anymore.

What a great way to experience and learn more about Tolkien and his world. The podcast is laid back and informative.
