I grew up listening to the BBC world service when I used to live in Mozambique now in my early 20’s the programs remind me of my childhood road trips when my dad used to tune into the radio station and allow us to be lost in the various stories they had. I would even be lost in the news the...Read full review »

Too conversational & superficial by far. Disappointing.

I listened to the episode on horses having been lucky enough to have had three of them in my life. Now, I am enjoying the other episodes because they are on a variety of different topics. Thank you for the break from politics which has become so toxic here in the USA. Keep up the good work👍

Loved the victim blaming episode.

My initial visit... thought I would start at the initial pod. Feels distinctly rushed: r these people being... STOP-watched? Because, as someone who plans to take their own life, I couldn’t finish this because of this effect, &, right now, not planning to come back. Remember this is SOUND...Read full review »

Since the departure of mike Williams the show is on a nosedive. Barely any content worth listening to.

Excellent podcast. Well produced. Interesting topics, informative and educational. Fun also.

This podcast opens me up to subjects I would normally not think about as well as going deeper into those which I have spent time studying. I also enjoy the stories which have a bit of humor that are a part of the programming repertoire.

I learned a lot listening to this podcast, each topic is covered from a different angle.

This issue you dealt with today my mom and dads generation dealt with. They both came from Bosnia. My mom and her sister were taught to do their best in school so they could achieve their goals. My mom had all the levels in piano and was trained in voice. She had a chance to go to Juilliard...Read full review »

Well presented like all BBC programs. Every subjects is presented with a liberal bias. I wish it would be more balanced and fair.

Episode on meritocracy was intellectually vacant. Most painful thing I have had to endure in a long time.

My favorite podcast! thanks

I enjoyed it until the “Truth” episode. When they started getting political and attack Trump, it became no different than the rest of the boring podcasts.

Learning a lot from this podcast!

Maybe it’s harder to find subject matter. Maybe it’s a change in producers or presenter power at work. Whatever it is, this show is slipping. Fast. More and more often it sounds like an anaemic R4 current affairs doc. There are already plenty of those. Why be so redundant? This show built it’s...Read full review »

It’s great getting deeper into topics that are so interesting. Topics i have wondered about myself and find the answers so much more rewarding and relevant beyond what I could find on the internet. Love people you get to explain and how excited they are to share.
DavidG2018 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 05/15/18
The producers of this podcast have tackled such a variety of unrelated topics and managed to treat each in great depth (the kind of great depth one can achieve in 25 or 30 minutes). I’m enjoying plowing through the archives and look forward to new episodes
Phuckingphilistine via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/04/18
Was good when Mike Williams presented - seems less factual and more political now makes it less interesting.

I can’t find the right words to describe this. So meticulously done. It tackles issues that we all secretly want to discuss. Well done to everyone working on this show

Great Podcast. Love the subjects. I wish the episodes were a bit longer but they are great in content.

My favorite one and it shows me a lot of different insights.
兰竹yue via Apple Podcasts · China · 10/04/17
As with all BBC programs, this podcast is very professionally presented. Each week a particular facet of human biology, psychology or culture is examined and a theory presented. Not so many hard answers, but many interesting theses, conjectures and ideas presented by bona fide leaders in the field.

Beautifully produced and well worth listening to. Highly recommend.

Love this show and have been listening from episode one! Although I wish they would explain what happened to Mike Williams who used to host the show? Now there is a different host every episode? Is Mike not going to host anymore?

I listen to the BBC world service here in the US late at night on my local NPR station, 91.7 FM WNNZ. The Why Factor is easily one of my favorite segments! Like a shorter version of RadioLab, but with less of the soundscape. My only complaint is that the segments are not longer!

Lots wats via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/24/17
I tried to listen to the programme about regrets but had to stop because of the persistent, intrusive and very distracting music. What is the point of playing music over the spoken word? I listen to hear the spoken word; I do not expect to have arrogant, manipulative, cynical programme makers...Read full review »
