Some constructive criticism
Look, I think these guys (and girl) are giving a really solid effort. I may sound harsh in what I am about to say, and I apologize. This review is meant to be constructive criticism. If the hosts read this, I am proud of you for gaining a following and having the balls to do a show like this. I am not going to be listening again for a while - because of what I will describe below. One day I will check back in and perhaps you will “grow” into some of these traits. If not, that’s ok too. You have an intended audience and perhaps I am not that audience. I want to like this content. But every episode is read from scripts, and it sounds a bit like listening to a 5th grader give an oral report on a subject that they really don’t understand. They’re passionate, but the hosts are also very gullible and easily persuaded… and in my opinion sound like they have a fear of offending each other. So they don’t ever disagree with each other. They never really challenge any of their own theories and consequently have no meaningful debate/banter/discussion. They try. But it is not quite there. Almost as if they are just enjoying a communal joint (no judgement if they are) and cannot experience any depth of personal investigation beyond what they found on the internet. Where’s the science behind these things? The investigation? The real intrigue? Find something that I can’t find… at least not easily. They have a ton of great topics, and I’ve listened to roughly the halfway point on 15-20 episodes. But I gave up on the episodes because they are reading information that can easily be found in the top 3 links of a google search regarding the given topic. The only episode where I felt like there was some investigation was randomnautica. But that ultimately fell flat too… even though they were kinda getting somewhere.
