… listening to all those stories of fellow aviators who have gone through events we all try to avoid. Best GA podcast ever! Can’t express how thankful I am for you to share and give us the opportunity to learn from you. Keep the good work and fy safe - all of you out there. Thank you AOPA...Read full review »

Great episode - simple usable advice and decision process discussion around wildlife a common problem nationwide. One question - how delicious was that deer !

I enjoyed “There I was…” before I even became a pilot, and as a student pilot, I find something in almost every episode to discuss with my CFI. Whether you’re a student or an ATP, there’s no substitute for hearing from peers who have flown into demanding situations and come out wiser on the other...Read full review »

I’m a long time airplane geek who hasn’t yet pursued a pilots license, but this is just a fantastic platform to learn from and be exhilarated by learning experiences in aviation. These stories, while they do pertain to aviation I feel teach us a lot about life and wisdom in general, perhaps...Read full review »

I love this podcast. It’s really interesting to hear other pilot stories and although I mainly fly helicopters I always gain useful nuggets from fixed wing flying stories. Richard does a cracking job of keeping things flying along at a good pace while getting into the detail with the guest. Sound...Read full review »

This podcast is the intersection of relevant information with real life experiences, and is produced at a professional level all around. Please keep up the good work! All of us pilots (and non-pilots) need the universal concepts you’re getting at in these episodes.

Can’t get enough of this podcast!

Richard et al, What an exvellent podcast, especially this episode. As a helicopter pilot, I know it is tempting to assume that since a helicopter can do so many things, that it can do more than it (or you/me/we) actually can or should. Land and live is a great mantra. Do we really have to...Read full review »

Seems like such a simple format, one person talking to another about an aviation episode they were lucky enough to learn from. But it is so brilliantly executed with quality audio, clearly prepared presenters, and good lessons to learn from. Thank you for making it.

Thank you for putting on this podcast and for doing such a great job, all around. I am a student pilot, and I did not grow up in an ‘aviation family.’ This podcast has opened my eyes to so many things and the reality of accidents, not every one dies. It has taught me how important safety and...Read full review »

This is a phenomenal show for any pilot who is interested in learning more about aviation. Well written and produced this podcast creates a perfect evidence based approach on applicable emergency procedures while creating an atmosphere of this can happen to anyone...so be prepared. Thanks for what you do! I’m listening to these with my daughter and we both cringe a little with the “s” sounds in playback. Can you adjust production to help tone down that sound? Minor critique for this amazing show!!! Thanks for your work!!

As an aviation enthusiast, I can recommend this pod to anyone who is interested in the „flying“ part of flying. The step-by-step recap of the event is expertly moderated. It‘s particularly helpful to hear what the different pilots have learnt from „their“ situation and different suggestions as to...Read full review »

The only problem I have since finding this podcast is running out of previous episodes to binge on. I really like the lessons and takeaways from the pilots who’ve experienced and survived in-flight emergencies or accidents. And the hosts to a great job with the interviews.

WOW! Best podcast ever! I heard about this podcast on my weekly listen to AOPA Live. In a way it’s an audio version of “I Learned About Flying From That” which I used to read as a “Flying” magazine subscriber years ago. A suggestion might be to add a “show notes” page with links to info on...Read full review »

Love these real life stories, the make you think about the what if’s and put a real scenario with all of the hypotheticals from training. Only complaint is volume of the host and guest, sometimes I can’t turn up the volume loud enough to hear what is being discussed.

I am working on my commercial ASEL right now, and really enjoyed the stories so far. They are a great reminder of the risks associated with flying, and why we need to always make safe decisions when we are flying.
Paapy via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/25/18
Guest and host volumes were inconsistent and host has a lisp that should be fixed with a good mic or in post production. Normally, I wouldn’t complain but the pitch on the lisp gave me a headache.

I love the wonderful stories the guests have told on this podcast! Very captivating! Whenever the co-host, Kristin, asks questions or makes comments though, I have to turn the volume way down because I can't stand listening to her! Between the "umm's" and the "uhh's"...Read full review »
