Fantastic writing podcast
Over the past eight months, I have listened to all 196 available episodes of the This Is Horror podcast. (I have also listened to a few extra because I support them on Patreon. You can, too, if you like the content they produce. You will get early access to episodes and a bunch of other perks! Also—and I realize this is not a Patreon review—Michael David Wilson is attempting to create an interactive community, and so is very responsive. It is just plain fun.) This Is Horror is my favorite horror genre writing podcast for the following reasons: I like the long form interviews. I wish more such interviews were available, not just regarding writing, but on a variety of topics. I wish television news shows existed that did long form interviews. I understand this is no longer the way of the world. I love This Is Horror for producing long form interviews. I appreciate they breadth of writing related topics they cover on the podcast. Although they have moved away from doing reviews and produce mainly interviews now, when the hosts did review works in early episodes they were always critical in a positive way. They did not give positive reviews if they did not like the work, but any negative comments were given constructively. I feel like the folks at this is horror give due respect to the act of storytelling and creating art, and therefore never give a negative review without crediting the artist for fruitful efforts and lending their own advice about how the work could have worked better. Michael David Wilson is perhaps the only person who could deliver his signature sign off nearly 200 times and never sound anything less than sincere doing so. I am not even going to type it out here. The words would sound kind of silly if you read them. Give the podcast a listen and hear for yourself. I indeed have a better day each day I hear his sign off than days I do not listen to the This Is Horror Podcast. That alone is worth the price of admission. Also, it is free. My life is a little bit better because of the This Is Horror podcast. Not sure I can provide a better endorsement than that.

I very much enjoyed the recent podcast with Paul Tremblay, and looking at the previous shows, now need to work my way back, hitting those discussions with the likes of Nathan Ballingrud, Josh Malerman, Stephen Graham Jones, Ray Cluley, Richard Thomas, and so many others. These are the names that...Read full review »

It’s all the guests want to talk about. Or politics. Talk more about writing.
